Lung parenchymal injury and its frequency in blunt thoracic trauma: the diagnostic value of chest radiography and thoracic CT.
The aims of this study were to determine the value of chest radiography in diagnosing lung parenchymal injury in patients with thoracic trauma, and to evaluate the frequency of lung parenchymal injury by using thoracic computed tomography (CT). ⋯ The sensitivity of anteroposterior chest radiography in identifying lung parenchymal injury was low, with a high false negative rate; therefore, we think that early evaluation with thoracic CT is extremely helpful in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with thoracic trauma, adding to the cooperative work that exists between radiologists and emergency physicians.

Evaluation of cerebral glioma grade by using normal side creatine as an internal reference in multi-voxel 1H-MR spectroscopy.
PURPOSE Our purpose was to evaluate cerebral glioma grade by using normal side creatine (Cr) as an internal reference in multi-voxel 1H-MR spectroscopy. MATERIALS AND METHODS We examined 25 adult patients with glial brain tumors. Ratios of maximum Cho/Cr (normal) (max- Cho/Cr(n)) and minimum NAA/Cr(normal) (min-NAA/ Cr(n)) were determined using Cr levels in the normal parenchyma. ⋯ Our data showed that Cr tended to be low in the high-grade tumors. In addition to conventional metabolite ratios, the Min-NAA/Cr(n) ratio might be useful in brain tumor grading. Combined use of metabolite ratios might be helpful in grading brain tumors in cases without significantly increased Cho/Cr ratios.

Case ReportsClinical and CT findings of epiploic appendagitis within an inguinal hernia.
Epiploic appendagitis is a rare condition resulting from an acute inflammation of an appendix epiploica. Epiploic appendagitis is frequently misdiagnosed as either acute appendicitis or acute diverticulitis, and the diagnosis is usually made during surgery. ⋯ Medical management of symptoms is usually sufficient. Herein, we present CT findings of an epiploic appendagitis case that developed in a left inguinal hernia, which is a very rare entity.

Cerebral blood flow measurements of the extracranial carotid and vertebral arteries with Doppler ultrasonography in healthy adults.
To establish normal cerebral blood flow volume by measuring flow volume of the extracranial carotid and vertebral arteries using Doppler ultrasonography in healthy adults. ⋯ Normal cerebral blood flow volume was established by measuring the flow volume of the ECA and VA with Doppler ultrasonography in healthy adults. We believe that these data can be useful in evaluating cases with cerebrovascular disease, which are related to altered cerebral blood flow volume.

Case Reports'Ecstasy'(MDMA)-induced pneumomediastinum and epidural pneumatosis.
Epidural pneumatosis and pneumomediastinum may occur after the inhalation of "Ecstasy" (methylenedioxymetamphetamine), but only one case has been reported in the literature. We report the case of a 21- year-old male patient who presented with epidural pneumatosis and pneumomediastinum. Chest CT demonstrated the pneumomediastinum and multiple air bubbles within the spinal canal.
