Low frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation to the non-lesioned hemisphere improves paretic arm reach-to-grasp performance after chronic stroke.
To investigate the effect of inhibitory low frequency repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) applied to the non-lesioned hemisphere on kinematics and coordination of paretic arm reach-to-grasp (RTG) actions in individuals with stroke. ⋯ The findings demonstrate the feasibility and efficacy of low frequency rTMS applied to the non-lesioned hemisphere for the recovery of reach-to-grasp actions in individuals with hemiparesis secondary to stroke. The inhibitory effect of low frequency rTMS resulted in improved paretic hand reach-to-grasp performance with faster movement time and more coordinated reach-to-grasp pattern. These results have important implications for the use of rTMS for stroke rehabilitation.

Comparative StudyEvaluation of a parent-report diary of the home use of assistive devices by young children with cerebral palsy.
To develop and evaluate the preliminary measurement properties of a parent-report diary of the home use of seating and mobility devices by young children with cerebral palsy (CP). ⋯ The HUTCH diary shows promise as a reliable and practical way to record the frequency and number of hours that children use different types of seating and mobility-related devices at home. Testing the concurrent validity of the HUTCH diary against an acceptable criterion measure will improve its acceptance as measure of AT device use.

Comparative StudyChildren's perceptions of their use of assistive devices in home and school settings.
The study aimed to explore how children with cerebral palsy (CP) perceived their disability and assistive devices and to consider the factors influencing their device use in home and school settings. ⋯ The results demonstrate the significance of child-environment interaction. The children's attitudes towards device usage are influenced by their perceptions of the contextual feature of both settings. Additionally, the results indicate that children's views about their assistive devices may be different from those of adult users due to their different developmental stages and unique personal experiences. The findings suggest the importance of children's active participation in the field of assistive device research.

A new concept for the non-invasive treatment of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis: the Corrective Movement principle integrated in the SpineCor System.
To evaluate the change in spinal curvature and posture of Idiopathic Scoliosis patients when a curve specific 'Corrective Movement Principle' (CMP) is applied. ⋯ The SpineCor brace is effective for the treatment of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Moreover, positive outcomes are maintained after 2 years because 151 (93.2%) of 162 patients stabilized or corrected their end of bracing Cobb angle up to 2 years after bracing.
