Case ReportsCoronary recanalization due to presumed thrombosis following surgical ligation of a large right coronary artery to right ventricle fistula.
We report angiographic findings in an infant with congestive heart failure due to a large right coronary artery to right ventricular fistula who underwent surgical ligation. Repeat catheterization 2 years later unexpectedly showed extensive thrombosis of the right coronary artery with multiple recanalized channels supplying the right coronary distribution. Review of the literature showed that this may not be an uncommon finding.

Endovascular stent placement for right ventricle to pulmonary artery conduit stenosis in the Norwood with Sano modification.
Conduit obstruction is increasingly recognized as a complication of the Sano modified Norwood procedure. We report our experience with stent placement to ameliorate conduit stenoses and prevent premature surgical intervention. ⋯ Transcatheter treatment of Sano conduit obstruction can be performed safely and results in immediate improvement in oxygenation, thereby allowing substantial delay of the cavo-pulmonary shunt.

Diagnostic role of magnetic resonance imaging in identifying aortic arch anomalies.
The aim of this article was to assess the role of MRI in the diagnosis and management of a variety of complex aortic arch anomalies. ⋯ Magnetic resonance imaging is an important diagnostic tool in identifying anomalies of the aortic arch and its branches and can be considered the imaging technique of choice when planning surgical management, especially when there are associated cardiac anomalies.

Comparative StudyPrevalence of migraine in adults with cyanotic congenital heart disease.
There is an increased prevalence of patent foramen ovale in patients with migraine, leading to the suggestion that migraine is more common in patients with potential right-to-left shunts. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of migraine in adults with large right-to-left shunts because of cyanotic congenital heart disease. ⋯ There is an increased prevalence of migraine with aura in both cyanotic and acyanotic patients with congenital heart disease. The high prevalence of migraine in acyanotic patients with congenital heart disease may be due to an increased prevalence of patent foramen ovale.

Comparative StudyEarly surgical morbidity and mortality in adults with congenital heart disease: the University of Michigan experience.
To review early surgical outcomes in a contemporary series of adults with congenital heart disease (CHD) undergoing cardiac operations at the University of Michigan, and to investigate possible preoperative and intraoperative risk factors for morbidity and mortality. ⋯ The postoperative course in adults following surgery for CHD is generally uncomplicated and early survival should be expected. Certain risk factors for increased mortality in this patient population may include preoperative presence of chronic lung or liver dysfunction, prolonged cardiopulmonary bypass and aortic cross-clamp times, and postoperative elevated inotropic score and serum lactate levels.
