Comparative Study
31 days of COVID-19-cardiac events during restriction of public life-a comparative study.
The coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 outbreak led to the most recent pandemic of the twenty-first century. To contain spread of the virus, many nations introduced a public lockdown. How the pandemic itself and measures of social restriction affect hospital admissions due to acute cardiac events has rarely been evaluated yet. ⋯ The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and concomitant social restrictions are associated with reduced cardiac events admissions to our tertiary care center. From a public health perspective, strategies have to be developed to assure patients are seeking and getting medical care and treatment in time during SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

Geographical differences in heart failure characteristics and treatment across Europe: results from the BIOSTAT-CHF study.
Geographical differences may impact the treatment of heart failure (HF) and the results of clinical trials. We have investigated the differences between geographical areas across Europe in the BIOSTAT-CHF program. ⋯ The BIOSTAT-CHF study showed significant differences in the clinical features, treatment and prognosis in European patients with HF. Patients from the Mediterranean centers less often had the HF treatments up-titrated; however, the treatment up-titration benefited patients irrespective of their geographical region and should be part of the "default" clinical practice.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Impact of renal function on clinical outcomes after PCI in ACS and stable CAD patients treated with ticagrelor: a prespecified analysis of the GLOBAL LEADERS randomized clinical trial.
Impaired renal function (IRF) is associated with increased risks of both ischemic and bleeding events. Ticagrelor has been shown to provide greater absolute reduction in ischemic risk following acute coronary syndrome (ACS) in those with versus without IRF. ⋯ The trial has been registered with ClinicalTrials.gov, number NCT01813435.

We aimed at developing a structured study protocol utilizing the bibliographic web-application science performance evaluation (SciPE) to perform comprehensive scientometric analyses. ⋯ This protocol allows precise conduction of contemporaneous scientometric analyses based on bioinformatic and meta-analytical techniques, allowing to evaluate and contextualize scientific efforts. Data presentation with the depicted visualization techniques is mandatory for transparent and consistent analyses of research output across different nations and topics. Research performance can then be discussed in a synopsis of all findings.

Meta Analysis
Transcatheter versus surgical aortic valve replacement in low-risk patients: a meta-analysis of randomized trials.
Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has emerged as a treatment option for severe aortic stenosis in patients at intermediate or high surgical risk. However, until recently there was insufficient evidence regarding the outcomes of TAVR compared to surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) for patients at low risk. ⋯ TAVR in low-risk patients is superior to SAVR for the majority of outcomes.
