Comparative Study[Clinical role of CT-guided transthoracic needle biopsy in the diagnosis of solitary pulmonary nodules].
The aim of this prospective study was to assess the overall diagnostic accuracy of CT-guided transthoracic biopsy of solitary pulmonary nodules, to compare the reliability of the diagnosis of malignancy made at prebiopsy CT and to investigate the final clinical impact of cyto-histologic results. ⋯ CT-guided thoracic biopsy, allowing an accurate histologic diagnosis, is confirmed as a safe procedure with a strong impact on the diagnostic protocol of the solitary pulmonary nodule.

Comparative Study[Cicatrization of complete traumatic lesions of the posterior cruciate ligament. Magnetic resonance follow-up of 10 cases and a proposal for modification of Gross classification].
Traumatic injuries of the knee ligaments present in various degrees of severity from interstitial sprains to complete ligament tears. The femoral insertion of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is susceptible to post-traumatic ischemic changes secondary to interrupted vascular supply from the tibial insertion. In comparison, the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) has more extensive vascularization from the posterior geniculate arteries, which allows better healing of these injuries with fibrous scar tissue. MRI of a scarred PCL injury shows lower than normal signal intensity, which post-traumatic changes in signal intensity are well described in the literature. In my personal experience with more than 5500 MR examinations of the knee, PCL traumatic injuries secondary to motor vehicle accidents or sports injuries are a frequent finding. Many of these patients are completely asymptomatic for articular instability. ⋯ Even though the number of patients in this study is limited, follow-up MRI confirms the possibility of scar tissue repair in PCL post-traumatic injuries, supporting primary conservative treatment.

Multicenter Study Comparative Study[Ultrasonography, with Doppler color, and cytologic correlations in Plummer's disease].
We carried out a retrospective study to assess the different B-mode and color Doppler features of Plummer's disease and to compare them with cytologic findings. ⋯ Color Doppler US provides data on the functional phase of Plummer's disease and is a very useful tool to monitor medical treatment results; moreover, it permits to characterize the lesions with the richest vascularization, avoiding inadequate cytologic sampling.
