[Squamous-cell carcinoma of the tongue: treatment results and prognosis].
The aim of the study was to assess the results of curative treatment of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue and to evaluate survival and predictive factors of recurrence. ⋯ Prognosis (survival and non-recurrence rates and functional results) of squamous cell carcinomas of oral tongue was better than prognosis of those of base of tongue. We recommend an aggressive surgical procedure even in patients with neck classed N0 (with reservations for T1 lesions with small depth of invasion): an ipsilateral supraomohyoid neck dissection for cancer of oral tongue and a bilateral supraomohyoid neck dissection for cancer of base of the tongue, cancer of oral tongue which crosses the median line of the oral cavity and cancer of the apex linguae. Postoperative radiotherapy must be performed when margins are positives and/or when nodes are involved with or without extracapsular spread.

Case Reports[Cysts from the first branchial cleft. Apropos of a case ].

The embryogenic origin and the anatomic relation with the facial nerve is recalled. Surgical treatment is indicated.

Case Reports[Cutaneous angiosarcoma of the head: three cases].
Cutaneous angiosarcoma of the head is an uncommon finding. We report three cases, two women with a scalp localization and a man with a facial (frontal) localization. Recurrence was observed in one woman after surgery; this patient was given palliative treatment due to her poor health condition. ⋯ He is now disease free after surgery and cervical radiotherapy. Wide surgery and careful long-term follow-up are essential. The latissimus dorsi free flap can provide successful cure.

[The French Journal of Stomatology and Maxillofacial Surgery: what is the future?].
A scientific journal reflects the dynamics of a specialty and should allow wide diffusion of clinical as well as fundamental research findings in order for all practitioners to keep up with changes in their specialty. These objectives are totally different from a journal designed to meet teaching objectives where general reviews, technical notes or clinical cases are in the forefront. The purpose of this work was to determine the current role of the Revue de Stomatologie et de Chirurgie Maxillo-faciale in an attempt to determine future perspectives. ⋯ Considering that the substance of a scientific review lies in the abundance of its original articles, whether the work reports fundamental or clinical research, but more particularly clinical research for a surgery review, one is obliged to observe that the volume of French publications produced annually is insufficient to fullfil the objectives of a truly scientific journal. The 45% submission rate of case reports is in line with this observation. The number of international publications clearly does not explain this situation since globally, over a 2.5 year period, the number of original articles published was to order of one-third of the number published in the Revue de Stomatologie et de Chirurgie Maxillo-Faciale in the single year of 1999, and since the teams involved were the same.

Headaches are a very common complaint for general practitioners and neurologists. When a regional cause has been excluded, the neurologist will class headaches according to the criteria of the International Headache Society. An estimate of the 1-year prevalence of migraine in adults is about 10-15%. ⋯ Surgical treatment may be proposed secondarily. In conclusion, the right diagnosis leads to the right treatment. Thus, daily chronic headaches due to drug overuse can be avoided.
