To examine the epidemiologic data, identify the pattern of dispute, and determine clinical litigious errors by analyzing closed malpractice claims involving myocardial infarction (MI) in Taiwanese courts. ⋯ Medical practitioners should keep a high index of MI suspicion, especially if the diagnosis and treatment of MI are beyond their daily practice. Prudent patient reevaluation, serial ECG and cardiac enzyme testing, and early consultation are suggested to reduce malpractice liability.

Ballistic trauma caused by bullets can be fatal or cause serious injury. Despite the abundance in literature in management of bullet injuries, there is paucity in describing how the operating surgeon should handle the bullet intra operatively. ⋯ We suggest a novel technique in handling bullets intraoperatively which, to the best of our knowledge, has not been published before. We also suggest general recommendations in handling bullets intraoperatively.

Cerebral artery aneurysm rupture is usually associated with significant subarachnoid hemorrhage; however, there are rare cases where there is a lack of hemorrhage into the subarachnoid space. While subdural hemorrhage can occur with ruptured aneurysms, isolated subdural hemorrhage is more often associated with trauma. In this case, a 51-year-old obese woman, who recently visited an Urgent Care Center for elevated blood pressure, was found dead roughly a month later. ⋯ There was cardiomegaly (510 gm), and mild to moderate atherosclerosis in multiple vessels. The classic clinical presentation of a ruptured cerebral artery berry aneurysm involves the sudden onset of an excruciating headache.1 While angiography provides the most conclusive image-based antemortem evidence of an aneurysm, CT scans are used frequently in an emergency setting to identify basilar subarachnoid hemorrhage, a very common associated finding, thus allowing for a diagnosis of probable ruptured aneurysm.1 Depending on the circumstances of a given case, the presence of subdural hemorrhage with absence of subarachnoid hemorrhage on CT scan may suggest a different underlying process, such as trauma. The presented case serves to remind clinicians that ruptured berry aneurysms do not always produce significant subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Forensic units have a central role to play in healthy public policy, by the collection and management of violence. This study aims to describe the characteristics of physical Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) against men reported over 10 years in the forensic unit of Toulouse (France) and to compare them with the characteristics of physical IPV against women over the same period. All the medico-legal reports of male victims over 18 years of age between 2005 and 2014 were analyzed. ⋯ The findings should be interpreted with caution, but they provide original and substantial material, which can be useful in recognizing victims and in developing preventive strategies. With this aim, forensic units have a central role to play in the collection of violence and in individualized management. In France, this subject has not been extensively studied and future research is needed to emphasize the characteristics of IPV in order to better understand the phenomenon and to create and assess public policies in order to prevent it.

Turkey has experienced a wave of demonstrations in the summer of 2013, called Gezi Park Demonstrations. Between 31 May and 30 August, 297 people who had been subjected to trauma by several methods of demonstration control and Riot Control Agents applied to the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey Rehabilitation Centers to receive treatment/rehabilitation and/or documentation. 296 patients except one 5-year-old child were included in the study. Of the 296 patients; 175 were male, 120 were female, and one was a transgender individual. ⋯ Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Major Depressive Disorder followed this diagnosis. This study includes the medical evaluation of injuries allegedly sustained during Gezi Park demonstrations in 2013 as a result of several methods of demonstration control and/or by being exposed to Riot Control Agents. The aim is to discuss different types of injuries due to those methods and health consequences of Riot Control Agents.
