Palliative care (PC) is essential in the treatment of patients with interstitial lung diseases (ILD). There is no data on the management of PC by pulmonologists in Argentina for ILD patients. This study aimed to describe the approach to PC in ILD patients in Argentina. ⋯ Despite the majority of physicians recognizing the importance of PC, there are significant deficiencies in access to these services and in the knowledge about them. Furthermore, there is a lack of multidisciplinary collaboration. Addressing these gaps is crucial for improving the quality of life for ILD patients.

Mushrooms containing amatoxins generate the highest number of fatal mycete poisonings on the planet. These toxins are produced not only by Amanita species, such as the well-known Amanita phalloides, but also by other genera, including Lepiota. In this work we report the treatment of a 51-year-old male patient weighing 79 kg who was referred to the hospital after 36 h of ingesting mushrooms. ⋯ The patient was discharged 11 days after admission. This case highlights the importance of obtaining a correct and sufficient anamnesis on fungi, enabling rapid analysis of them, and initiation of timely treatment for intoxication. Once again, the importance of having Toxicological Information and Advice Centers (CIAT) with experience and knowledge of micetisms is demonstrated.

Lyme disease (LD) is caused by bacteria of the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato complex and transmitted by the bite of ticks of the Ixodes ricinus complex. To date, no autochthonous cases have been reported in Argentina. Its diagnosis involves serological tests included in a two-step algorithm. The study proposes to report the results of laboratory tests, describe the clinical-epidemiological characteristics of consultations received due to suspected LD, and critically evaluate the scientific evidence on alleged autochthonous cases of Lyme in Argentina. ⋯ The diagnosis of LD should only be considered based on the presence of typical symptoms of infection in patients with a history of exposure to the vector, and always use FDA-approved assays and recommended interpretation criteria.

Although extensive research exists on the morbidity and mortality associated with tracheostomy in pediatrics, scarse work has been done to analyze the outcomes after hospital discharge of tracheostomized children. In our country there are no publications referring to the follow-up of this population. The general objective of this study was to describe and analyze the situation of tracheostomized children living at home in Argentina. ⋯ Our research, the first of its kind, provides a crucial epidemiologic analysis of the situation of tracheostomized children living at home in Argentina. These findings are significant as they shed light on a previously unexplored area, emphasizing the need for further studies to confirm and expand these data.

Cat-scratch disease (CSD) is caused by Bartonella henselae and it is under-recognized in adults because it mainly affects children. Clinical course is commonly benign and self-limited; occasionally, there may be systemic involvement. ⋯ Clinical features of CSD in adults are poorly described in the worldwide literature. Diagnosis can be challenging because the clinical hallmark is regional lymphadenopathy.
