Case ReportsBilateral coronary ostial stenosis secondary to syphilitic aortitis.
Cardiovascular syphilis is associated with the tertiary stage of syphilis infection; it involves the ascending aorta and can cause aortic aneurysm, aortic regurgitation, and coronary ostial stenosis. We report here a case in which bilateral coronary ostial stenosis and aortic regurgitation due to syphilitic aortitis was diagnosed; coronary artery bypass graft was then performed.

Observational StudyAortic valve and aortic root features in CT angiography in patients considered for aortic valve repair.
The underlying mechanism of aortic regurgitation and aortic valve and root characteristics are associated with the durability of surgical repair. ⋯ The degree of commissural and annular calcification of the aortic valve determined by MDCT is inversely related to the ability to perform surgical valve repair instead of replacement. Similarly, bicuspid valve anatomy predicts failure to perform repair.

Cardiovascular CT in the diagnosis of pericardial constriction: predictive value of inferior vena cava cross-sectional area.
The diagnosis of pericardial constriction remains challenging. ⋯ Assessment of IVC-to-aortic area ratio on CT aids with the diagnosis of pericardial constriction and has independent and incremental value over pericardial thickness alone.

The aortic valve calcium nodule score (AVCNS) independently predicts paravalvular regurgitation after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).
Paravalvular regurgitation (PVR) is an important predictor of mortality after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Aortic valve (AV) calcification is strongly associated with PVR. ⋯ AVCNS, a variable that comprises the total burden of AV calcification as well as calcification agglomeration in form of large nodules, is a novel and powerful independent predictor of PVR after TAVR.

Observational StudyEntrance skin dosimetry and size-specific dose estimate from pediatric chest CTA.
Size-specific dose estimate (SSDE), which corrects CT dose index (CTDI) for body diameter and is a better measure of organ dose than is CTDI, has not yet been validated in vivo. ⋯ SSDE is a valid dose measure in children undergoing chest CT angiography over a wide range of scanner platforms, techniques, and patient sizes, and it may be used to model breast dose and to document the results of dose reduction strategies.
