The value of different insulin resistance indices in assessment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in overweight/obese children.
The aim of the present study was to determine the association between insulin resistance (IR) and both non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and metabolic syndrome (MetS) in a group of Egyptian overweight/obese children and adolescents and to evaluate different IR indices in detection of NAFLD. ⋯ IR was significantly associated with NAFLD. QUICKI is considered more sensitive than HOMA-IR in differentiating simple steatosis from normal liver histology.

Clustering of cardiometabolic risk factors and risk of elevated HbA1c in non-Hispanic White, non-Hispanic Black and Mexican-American adults with type 2 diabetes.
To determine which cardiometabolic risk factors and clusters of cardiometabolic risk factors that are mostly associated with elevated HbA1c in non-Hispanic White (NHW), non-Hispanic Black (NHB) and Mexican-American (MA) adults who have type 2 diabetes. ⋯ This finding calls for consideration of cardiovascular risk factor clustering in deciding medical therapies to optimize glycemic control in individuals with type 2 diabetes. Interventions designed to achieve glycemic control coupled with modification of cardiometabolic risk factors may be crucial in alleviating sequelae resulting from type 2 diabetes.

Cross sectional study to evaluate the effect of duration of type 2 diabetes mellitus on the nerve conduction velocity in diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
To study the nerve conduction velocity in clinically undetectable and detectable peripheral neuropathy in type 2 diabetes mellitus with variable duration. ⋯ Diabetic neuropathy symptom score (NSS) and neuropathy disability score (NDS) can help in evaluation of diabetic sensorimotor polyneuropathy though nerve conduction study is more powerful test and can help in diagnosing cases of neuropathy.
