Cesarean delivery outcomes from the WHO global survey on maternal and perinatal health in Africa.
To assess the association between cesarean delivery rates and pregnancy outcomes in African health facilities. ⋯ Use of cesarean delivery is limited in the African health facilities surveyed. Emergency cesareans, when performed, are often too late to reduce perinatal deaths.

Prevalence and impact of primary dysmenorrhea among Mexican high school students.
To evaluate factors affecting the prevalence of dysmenorrhea in a group of Mexican students. ⋯ The prevalence of dysmenorrhea was high in our sample. The condition caused short-term school absences and the students commonly addressed it by self-medicating.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of sublingual misoprostol, intravenous oxytocin, and intravenous methylergometrine in active management of the third stage of labor.
To compare the efficacy and adverse effects of sublingual misoprostol, intravenous oxytocin, and intravenous methylergometrine in active management of the third stage of labor (AMTSL). ⋯ Administration of 600 microg of sublingual misoprostol was more effective than 400 microg of misoprostol, intravenous oxytocin, and intravenous methylergometrine for AMTSL.
