Comparative StudyConcurrent versus sequential methods for labor induction at term.
To determine the efficacy and safety of the concurrent administration of oxytocin and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) for induction of labor at term, prompt delivery, and good maternal and neonatal outcomes. ⋯ The concurrent method of induction of labor resulted in shorter induction to delivery time and a higher proportion of vaginal deliveries.

Hospital visiting in obstetrics and gynecology: a tool for the advancement of training.
To assess the improvement of obstetric and gynecologic training brought about by peer influence in Europe. ⋯ The program focuses on the continuous improvement of the competencies of all persons trained in the obstetrics and gynecology departments of teaching hospitals throughout Europe. It also increases the understanding of diversity in training methods and can gradually lead to the convergence of training and health care standards in Europe.

To determine the clinical and echocardiographic profiles of women with peripartum cardiomyopathy and ascertain the natural course of the disease. ⋯ Women with peripartum cardiomyopathy present with severe left ventricular dysfunction late in the pregnancy or early in the puerperium. A considerable number of women still die from this condition despite the use of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and beta-blockers. A subsequent pregnancy carries a very high risk of mortality.
