Systemic vascular resistance is increased and associated with accelerated arterial stiffening change in patients with chronic cervical spinal cord injury.
Despite of stiffening change of conduit arteries, how total peripheral resistance (TPR) is adapted to chronic spinal cord injury (SCI) remains unclear. ⋯ Chronic cervical SCI leads to a progressively accelerated increase in vascular stiffness, which is associated with increase in systemic vascular resistance. Furthermore, the cervical SCI-related orthostatic hypotension lies in the impairment of vasoconstriction without cardiac dysfunction. Clinical Rehabilitation Impact. SI, rather than blood pressure, reflects not only cardiovascular risk but also TPR in chronic cervical SCI.

Comparative StudySymptomatic correlates of six-minute walk performance in persons with multiple sclerosis.
The six-minute walk (6MW) test has been identified as a valid, reliable, and reproducible measure of endurance walking performance that differentiates persons with multiple sclerosis (MS) and controls and correlates with disability and walking impairment. ⋯ Clinicians and practitioners might consider targeting fatigue as a method of managing compromised endurance walking in persons with MS.

The care of pain patients often requires a specialized knowledge base and skill set that allows the pain medicine specialist with tools necessary for optimal patient outcomes. Interventional pain medicine is the field of judiciously and appropriately applying such skills in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain; with the increasing prevalence of the disease, it cannot be overemphasized that providers must be equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide the care needed. This commentary provides brief, point-of-care information for providers of pain therapies in a portable, easy-to-navigate format. ⋯ Food and Drug Administration after 12-week trials. Multiple interventional techniques have reported trials of 6-42 months in duration. It must be mentioned, however, that stronger evidence, namely, level 1 studies (double-blinded, controlled studies with long follow-up and outcome measures documenting both pain relief as well as functional improvement) are needed to provide a basis for interventional care.

Randomized Controlled TrialUltrasound-guided aspiration and corticosteroid injection compared to horizontal therapy for treatment of knee osteoarthritis complicated with Baker's cyst: a randomized, controlled trial.
Combining different therapies, physical therapy agents, pharmacological and physical therapies, generally produces better outcomes for symptoms of knee osteoarthritis (OA) than do isolated therapies. ⋯ In this study we want to demonstrate the effectiveness of Horizontal Therapy in the treatment of knee OA complicated by BC.

Playing-related musculoskeletal disorders in music students-associated musculoskeletal signs.
Pain and overuse are common problems for musicians. Up to 80% of professional musicians suffer from playing-related musculoskeletal disorders (PRMD). The prevalence rate in music students is very high as well. Sufficient data on the underlying musculoskeletal dysfunctions however is scarce. Additionally, the self-assessment of health in musicians seems to differ compared to non-musicians, which might influence their attitudes concerning preventive strategies. ⋯ Screening of musicians for musculoskeletal dysfunction may identify those musicians at increased risk. Early treatment may prevent PRMD in musicians. Additional research is needed to confirm our hypothesis.
