Case Reports
Ruptured aneurysm with extravasation observed in four-dimensional computed tomography angiography.
We report a case of subarachnoid hemorrhage with a ruptured aneurysm in the anterior communicating artery. On multiphase dynamic contrast-enhanced four-dimensional computed tomography angiography (4D CTA), we observed active bleeding from the aneurysm that manifested over time with a corkscrew-like, spindle-like, and lobulated appearance and nebulous enhancement, characteristics reported only individually previously. The volume data for 4D CTA is easy to obtain with newly developed multidetector-row computed tomography, and 4D CTA can be used for evaluating anatomical aspects, hemodynamics, and treatment selection in cases of a ruptured cerebral aneurysm.

We report the case of 58-year-old man with pulmonary artery intimal sarcoma. He initially presented with cough, right-sided chest pain, and shortness of breath. ⋯ The patient was successfully treated with radiotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapy. FDG-PET was used for monitoring the response to therapy.

We investigated whether the distribution of emphysema on computed tomography (CT) images can affect chest wall motion in patients with chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD). ⋯ In COPD patients, the distribution of emphysema on CT correlates with airflow obstruction and abnormal diaphragmatic motion.

We have performed percutaneous vertebroplasty (PV) using polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) for patients with vertebral metastases since 2002. This study investigated the therapeutic effects of PV on vertebral metastases. ⋯ PV can offer pain relief to patients with painful vertebral metastases and short life expectancy whose general condition makes surgery difficult.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the relation between the sites of pulmonary embolism (PE) and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) by computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) and CT venography (CTV) of the pelvis and lower extremities. ⋯ Proximal PEs were correlated with proximal DVTs. Patients with a proximal DVT tended to have a PE, especially with a right-proximal DVT. Hence, the presence of a right-proximal DVT has the potential for serious complications, and carefully diagnosis is required for PE and DVT.
