Dextrose injection is reported to improve knee osteoarthritis (KOA)-related clinical outcomes, but its effect on articular cartilage is unknown. A chondrogenic effect of dextrose injection has been proposed. ⋯ IV.

An induced-pain paradigm has been used to examine risk factors for the development of low back pain (LBP) during prolonged standing in back-healthy people (standing paradigm). Previous studies that used induced-pain methods suggest that pain intensity may be related to psychologic factors. It is not currently known, however, whether pain intensity reported during the standing paradigm is related to psychologic factors. ⋯ II.

Intra-articular hip injections are commonly performed for both diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Because of the risk of damage to neurovascular structures, fluoroscopic guidance with injection of contrast material has been established as the gold standard to ensure proper needle placement into the intra-articular space. However, fluoroscopically guided intra-articular hip injections put patients at risk due to radiation exposure. ⋯ This study demonstrates that increasing BMI leads to elevated radiation dose during fluoroscopically guided intra-articular hip injections. The increased radiation experienced by patients with a larger BMI, however, is likely negligible.
