Randomized Controlled TrialRandomized Controlled Trial of Radiation Protection With a Patient Lead Shield and a Novel, Nonlead Surgical Cap for Operators Performing Coronary Angiography or Intervention.
Interventional cardiologists receive one of the highest levels of annual occupational radiation exposure. Further measures to protect healthcare workers are needed. ⋯ URL: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT02128035.

Comparative StudyThirty-Day Readmissions After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation Versus Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement in Patients With Severe Aortic Stenosis in New York State.
Several studies have compared short-term and medium-term mortality rates for patients with severe aortic stenosis undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR), but no studies have compared short-term readmission rates for the 2 procedures. ⋯ There are no statistically significant differences between TAVI and SAVR patients in short-term readmission rates.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyTicagrelor Versus Clopidogrel in Black Patients With Stable Coronary Artery Disease: Prospective, Randomized, Open-Label, Multiple-Dose, Crossover Pilot Study.
The burden of coronary artery disease (CAD) is high in blacks, highlighting the need for clinical research of antiplatelet agents in this population. We sought to evaluate platelet reactivity during loading and maintenance dosing of ticagrelor versus clopidogrel, and the pharmacokinetic profile of ticagrelor and its metabolite AR-C124910XX, in black patients with stable CAD taking low-dose aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). ⋯ URL: http://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Everolimus Eluting Stents Versus Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery for Patients With Diabetes Mellitus and Multivessel Disease.
In patients with diabetes mellitus and multivessel disease, coronary artery bypass graft surgery and percutaneous coronary intervention are treatment options. However, there is paucity of data comparing coronary artery bypass graft surgery against newer generation stents. ⋯ In patients with diabetes mellitus and multivessel disease, EES was associated with lower upfront risk of death and stroke when compared with coronary artery bypass graft surgery. However, at long-term, EES was associated with similar risk of death, a higher risk of MI (in those with incomplete revascularization), and repeat revascularization but a lower risk of stroke.
