Multicenter Study Clinical Trial
Primary systemic therapy in resectable pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma using mFOLFIRINOX: A pilot study.
Surgery followed by gemcitabine and/or a fluoropyrimidine is standard therapy for resectable PDAC. mFOLFIRINOX (oxaliplatin 85 mg/m2 , irinotecan 180 mg/m2 , leucovorin 400 mg/m2 Day 1, 5-FU 2400 mg/m2 × 48 h IV, peg-filgrastim 6 mg SQ day 3, every 14 days) has substantial activity in metastatic PDAC. We wished to determine the tolerability/efficacy of peri-operative mFOLFIRINOX in resectable PDAC. ⋯ PST using mFOLFIRINOX in resectable PDAC is feasible and tolerable. R0 resection rate is high and survival promising, requiring longer follow-up and larger studies for definitive assessment.

This study evaluated the relationship between the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) of preoperative positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) and the characteristics of lung adenocarcinoma featuring ground-glass opacity nodules (GGN). ⋯ The SUVmax of lung adenocarcinoma featuring GGN can vary depending on the GGO proportion. A higher SUVmax can be expected in invasive adenocarcinoma than in MIA, and solid and acinar-predominant invasive adenocarcinoma showed a higher SUVmax.

Effective and efficient lymphaticovenular anastomosis using preoperative ultrasound detection technique of lymphatic vessels in lower extremity lymphedema.
Identification of functional lymphatic vessels and localization of lymphatic vessels are important for lymphaticovenular anastomosis (LVA). Indocyanine green (ICG) lymphography is useful for localization of superficial lymphatic vessels where dermal backflow is not observed, but not for lymphatic vessels in deep layer or where dermal backflow is observed. Ultrasound has been applied in LVA and is considered useful for localization of lymphatic vessels with ICG lymphography cannot be visualized. ⋯ Ultrasound-guided detection of lymphatic vessels for lymphedema was performed with high precision, and allows easier and more effective LVA surgery.

Despite neoadjuvant chemoradiation (nCRT) followed by esophagectomy for locally advanced esophageal cancer, locoregional recurrence (LRR) is common and factors associated with LRR have not been clearly identified. ⋯ Although aggressive tumor biology plays a significant role in LRR, optimizing neoadjuvant treatments to obtain a complete pathologic response may lead to improved locoregional control.

To develop and validate a nomogram to estimate the pretest probability of malignancy in Chinese patients with solid solitary pulmonary nodule (SPN). ⋯ We developed and validated a nomogram that can estimate the pretest probability of malignant solid SPNs, which can assist clinical physicians to select and interpret the results of subsequent diagnostic tests.
