This study aimed to establish a correlation between MSI, KRAS mutations, and BRAF(V600E) in colon cancer and to investigate the prognostic effect. ⋯ MSI and the BRAF(V600E) mutation have a prognostic impact in colon cancer. Variable KRAS mutations may have different effects on colon cancers; further studies are needed to verify these results.

Given the high incidence of postoperative morbidity following pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD), efforts at improving patient outcomes are vital. We sought to determine the impact of perioperative fluid balance on outcomes following PD in order to identify a targeted strategy for reducing morbidity. ⋯ Higher postoperative fluid balance is associated with increased postoperative morbidity and longer hospital stay following PD. Efforts at maintaining a fluid-restrictive strategy should be emphasized in this population.

Negative surgical margins are uncommon for spine sarcomas; hence, adjuvant radiotherapy (RT) may be recommended but tumor dose may be constrained by spinal cord, nerve, and viscera tolerance. ⋯ LC with this treatment is high in patients with primary tumors. Late morbidity appears to be acceptable.

Enhanced recovery in the resection of colorectal liver metastases.
There is limited evidence for the use of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) in patients undergoing hepatectomy, and the impact of the evolution of ERAS over time has not been examined. This study sought to evaluate the effect of an evolving ERAS program in patients undergoing hepatectomy for colorectal liver metastases (CRLM). ⋯ This study suggests that as experience of ERAS evolves, there is a progressive reduction in hospitalization and critical care admission. This is without any increase in morbidity and mortality.

Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intra-peritoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) treatment of colorectal peritoneal metastases (PM) is an established treatment alternative. The study aim was, first, to investigate the outcome of high-volume disease defined by the peritoneal cancer index (PCI) 20; second, to report the long-term disease-free survival of patients with >5 years observation. ⋯ Treatment of high-volume disease may result in long-term survival and even cure. The key is to reach a complete CRS. The overall cure rate is 22%.
