This study aimed to use machine learning (ML) to establish risk factor and prediction models of osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) in patients with femoral neck fractures (FNFs) after internal fixation. ⋯ The logistic regression model had excellent performance in predicting ONFH in patients with FNFs after internal fixation and could provide valuable guidance in clinical decision-making. When choosing treatment options for patients with FNFs, doctors should identify the risk factors and consider using the presented models to help anticipate outcomes and select individualised treatment.

The primary focus of this study is to determine if rural methamphetamine positive patients experience longer hospital length of stays compared to urban methamphetamine positive patients following an orthopaedic trauma. ⋯ Methamphetamine positive patients overall do not experience a longer length of hospital stay compared to methamphetamine negative patients. Rural methamphetamine positive patients experience a longer length of hospital stay compared to urban methamphetamine positive patients.

The American College of Surgeons recommends operative debridement of open tibial fractures within 24 h of presentation. It is unknown what the compliance rates are with this recommendation and what factors contribute to delays to operation. ⋯ We identified longer wait times to operative irrigation and debridement of open tibial fractures for Black and American Indian patients, women, and those with Medicaid. The implementation of health equity focused quality metrics may be necessary to achieve equity in trauma care.

To summarize the clinical features of pediatric femoral neck fractures and analyze the risk factors for avascular necrosis of the femoral head. ⋯ Pediatric femoral neck fractures have a low incidence rate and are mostly caused by high-energy trauma, often resulting in severe injuries. Therefore, actively maintaining stable vital signs and properly managing associated injuries, timely surgical intervention for femoral neck fractures, achieving good reduction and fixation of displaced fractures are crucial in the treatment of pediatric femoral neck fractures.

Talar head fractures: An observational study of 33 talar head fractures derived from the Swedish Fracture Register.
Reports in the literature on talar head fractures are rare and limited to case reports and small case series. ⋯ IV, retrospective observational cohort study.
