Comparative StudyVisual versus automatic ultrasound scoring of lung B-lines: reliability and consistency between systems.
To evaluate the agreement between a visual and an automatic counting system of lung B-lines by ultrasound (US) as well as to test the inter- and intra-observer reliability of both systems in patients with lung diseases. ⋯ US automatic counting was consistent with US visual counting of lung B-lines, as performed by experts in the field. Both systems showed a high intra- and interobserver reliability.

Observational StudyEffects of ultrasound-guided suprascapular nerve pulsed radiofrequency on chronic shoulder pain.
Pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) therapy has become increasingly popular in the treatment of chronic shoulder pain due to its long duration of action and non-destructive method. The aim of the study was to reveal the effects of PRF therapy of the suprascapular nerve (SSN) under ultrasound guidance (UG) in patients with chronic shoulder pain on both shoulder pain and function. ⋯ This study is the largest series in the literature evaluating the efficacy of PRF therapy of the SSN under UG and has shown that pain canbe controlled quickly, for a long period of time, using ultrasound guided PRF therapy of the SSN in chronic shoulder pain.

Comparative Study Observational StudyGood performance of liver stiffness measurement in the prediction of postoperative hepatic decompensation in patients with cirrhosis complicated with hepatocellular carcinoma.
The evaluation of patients with early hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) referred for liver resection is still a matter of debate. Aims: 1) to compare liver stiffness measurement (LSM) by transient elastography with hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) in the prediction of decompensation after liver resection in patients with cirrhosis and early HCC; 2) to identify which definition for posthepatectomy liver failure is better associated with survival.

Review Meta AnalysisSensitivity and specificity of ultrasound for the diagnosis of acute pulmonary edema: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
This study aimed to determine the sensitivity and specificity of ultrasound for the diagnosis of acute pulmonary edema by meta-analysis. ⋯ The diagnostic test accuracy suggests that lung ultrasound using B-lines is a useful and reliable diagnostic tool for critically illpatients with acute pulmonary edema.

Correlation between Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound and Microvessel Density via CD31 and CD34 in a rabbit VX2 lung peripheral tumor model.
To evaluate the tumor angiogenesis in lung peripheral VX2 tumor model by contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and to determine the correlation between CEUS parameters and microvessel density (MVD) calculated via CD31 and CD34 expression. ⋯ Two different degrees of differentiation of vascular endothelial cells (CD31 and CD34) exist in the rabbit lung peripheral VX2 tumor model. CD31 MVD can more effectively evaluate tumor angiogenesis compared with CD34 MVD. CEUS, as a non-invasive imaging method, can effectively evaluate tumor angiogenesis in rabbit peripheral lung cancer.
