Standardized uptake value and metabolic tumor volume measured by ¹⁸F FDG PET/CT are sensitive biomarkers for the presence of lymph node metastasis in patients with cervical carcinoma.
The aim of this study was to evaluate whether tumor standardized uptake value (SUVmax) and metabolic tumor volume (MTV) associate with the presence of PET-positive pelvic/para-aortic lymph nodes (LN) in cervical cancer patients. ⋯ Presence of PET-positive LN correlates with tumor SUVmax and MTV of cervical tumor. These findings support the use of PET/CT in the pretreatment evaluation of cervical cancer patients in order to identify cases with high risk of lymphatic involvement.

Contribution of V/Q SPECT to planar scintigraphy in the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism.
To evaluate the feasibility of V/Q SPECT and analyze its contribution to planar V/Q lung scintigraphy in the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism (PE). ⋯ V/Q SPECT is a feasible technique as it was performed in 102 of the 109 patients who were enrolled in the study (94%). The addition of V/Q SPECT to planar V/Q decreases the number of "non-diagnostic" reports from 62% in planar scintigraphy to 4.9% in SPECT. Therefore, V/Q SPECT should be included in the diagnosis approach of PE due to its high diagnostic yield.

Deep Inspiration Breath Hold [(18)F]FDG PET-CT on 4-rings scanners in evaluating lung lesions: evidences from a phantom and a clinical study.
To investigate the clinical feasibility of a Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH) (18)F-FDG PET-CT acquisition in apnea and compare the results obtained between these acts of acquisition in apnea and in Free Breathing in the evaluation of lung lesions. ⋯ The single 20s acquisition of DIBH PET-CT is a feasible technique for lung lesion detection in the clinical setting. It only requires a minor increase in examination time without special patient training. 20s DIBH scan provided a more precise measurement of SUVmax, especially for lesions in the lower lung lobes which usually show greater displacement between PET and CT scan images in FB acquisition.

Epilepsy is one of the most frequent chronic neurological disorders, affecting 1-2% of the population. Patients with complex partial drug resistant episodes may benefit from a surgical treatment consisting in the excision of the epileptogenic area. Localization of the epileptogenic area was classically performed with video-EEG and magnetic resonance (MR). ⋯ Different methods of analysis of the images with substraction and fusion systems with the MR are described. Similarly, the injection methodology, quantification and evaluation of the images of the PET in epilepsy are described. Finally, the main clinical indications of SPECT and PET in temporal and extratemporal epilepsy are detailed.
