This study aimed to identify the imaging characteristics that can help differentiate intraparenchymal hemorrhage from benign contrast extravasation on post-procedural noncontrast CT scan in acute ischemic stroke patients after endovascular treatment. ⋯ An average attenuation <50 HU of the most hyperattenuating hyperdense parenchymal lesion on immediate post-procedural CT scan was very specific for differentiating contrast extravasation from intraparenchymal hemorrhage in acute ischemic stroke patients after endovascular treatment.

Endovascular treatment of ruptured wide-neck bifurcation aneurysms presents a challenge. While still under evaluation, the Woven Endobridge (WEB) aneurysm embolization system has so far shown promising results in the treatment of complex bifurcation aneurysms. We aimed to evaluate the feasibility and short-term follow-up of endovascular treatment of ruptured wide-neck aneurysm with the WEB device. ⋯ From this preliminary study, the high feasibility rate and lack of need for systematic antiplatelet agents favor the WEB device providing a solution for endovascular treatment of ruptured wide-neck bifurcation aneurysms during the acute phase. However, further studies are needed to evaluate the complication rate and long-term efficiency.

Computed tomographic angiography criteria in the diagnosis of brain death-comparison of sensitivity and interobserver reliability of different evaluation scales.
The standardized diagnostic criteria for computed tomographic angiography (CTA) in diagnosis of brain death (BD) are not yet established. The aim of the study was to compare the sensitivity and interobserver agreement of the three previously used scales of CTA for the diagnosis of BD. ⋯ In the application of CTA to the diagnosis of BD, reducing the assessment of vascular opacification scale from a 10- to a 4-point scale significantly increases the sensitivity and maintains high interobserver reliability.

MR imaging criteria for diagnosing acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) have not been clearly established. Due to the wide spectrum of differential considerations, new imaging features allowing early and accurate diagnosis for ADEM are needed. We hypothesized that ADEM lesions would be characterized by vasogenic edema due to the potential reversibility of the disease. ⋯ We propose that vasogenic edema is a reliable diagnostic sign of acute neuroinflammation in ADEM.

Although abnormalities in metabolite compositions in the thalamus are well described in patients with idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia (ITN), differences in distinct thalamic subregions have not been measured with proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy ((1)H-MRS), and whether there are correlations between thalamic metabolites and cognitive function still remain unknown. ⋯ Our result of low level of NAA/Cr in the affected PM-Th probably serves as a marker of the pain-rating index, and decreased Cho/Cr in IL-Th may be an indicator of cognitive disorder in patients with ITN.
