Review Case ReportsScar Endometriosis: a Case Report with Literature Review.
Endometriosis is defined as the presence of functioning endometrial tissue outside the uterine cavity. Endometriosis can sometimes occur in a previous surgical scar. Scar endometriosis is rare and difficult to diagnose. ⋯ We are reporting one case of scar endometriosis involving rectus sheath following cesarean section. The patient required wide surgical excision of the lesion. The pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of this rare condition are being discussed.

Randomized Controlled TrialGlideScope Video Laryngoscope for Difficult Intubation in Emergency Patients: a Quasi-Randomized Controlled Trial.
Macintosh direct laryngoscope has been the most widely used device for tracheal intubation. GlideScope video laryngoscope (GVL) has been recently introduced as an alternative device for performing intubation; however, its validity in emergency settings has not been thoroughly evaluated. The aim of this study was to compare Macintosh direct laryngoscope versus GVL for emergency endotracheal intubation. ⋯ In difficult airway group, a significant difference was found in successful intubation at the first attempt (60.9% vs. 87.5%; P=0.036), overall intubation time (32.7 ± 14.58 vs. 22.5±7.88; P<0.001) and first attempt intubation time (28.43 ± 12.51 vs. 21.48±7.8; P=0.001) between direct laryngoscopy and GVL. These variables were not significantly different between two methods in easy airway group. According to the results, GVL can be a useful alternative to direct laryngoscopy in emergency situations and especially in cases with a difficult airway.

Comparative StudyThe Comparison of WHOQOL-BREF with Disease Specific Heath Related Quality of Life Questionnaire in Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common gastrointestinal disorders particularly affecting the quality of life (QOL). Evaluating QOL in IBS patients is a valuable method of defining a psychobiological pattern of disease. Various disease specific and general instruments are now available to measure health-related QOL (HRQOL) in IBS patients. ⋯ Controlling for anxiety and depression symptoms did not influence the strength of observed correlation. The WHOQOL-BREF is a psychometrically sound, rapid and convenient instrument whose HRQOL measure is as valid and accurate as the disease-specific IBS-QOL questionnaire. It seems reasonable to use the WHOQOL-BREF alongside the IBS-QOL.

ReviewThe Optimal Surgical Approach for Treatment of Chronic Subdural Hematoma: Questionnaire Assessment of Practice in Iran and Review of Literature.
Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is a curable entity frequently encountered by neurosurgeons. The present study was conducted to explore expert opinion and common practice in Iran. Besides, a Review of randomized clinical trials in literature was performed. ⋯ The majority of participants used flat position at the postoperative period. At the current study, the pattern of management for CSDH was similar to other reports at literature suggesting the burr-hole drainage and irrigation as optimal treatment. Individualized decision-making could be made at challenging cases.

Restorative Effect of Vitamin D Deficiency on Knee Pain and Quadriceps Muscle Strength in Knee Osteoarthritis.
Both vitamin D deficiency and quadriceps muscle weakness are associated with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) and pain. The aim of this study was to determine the restorative effect of vitamin D deficiency on pain and quadriceps muscle strength in knee osteoarthritis. Patients with KOA aged ≥30 years, the presence of knee pain for at least one month or longer and serum 25-hydroxyvitamin (25-OHD) deficiencies were recruited in the study. ⋯ Serum 25-OHD reached to sufficient levels in all except one patient. At the end of the study period, serum 25-OHD and quadriceps muscle strength increased significantly as compared with baseline (P=0.007 and P=0.002, respectively), whereas knee pain decreased significantly based on Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis index (P=0.001)as well as visual analogue scale scores (P=0.001). These findings indicated that correction of vitamin D deficiency in patients with KOA exerts a significant favorable effect on quadriceps muscle strength and knee pain.
