Early allograft dysfunction (EAD) is frequent complication post-liver transplantation and is closely related to recipient's mortality and morbidity. We sought to develop a nomogram for predicting incidence of EAD. ⋯ We've established and validated a nomogram that can provide individual prediction of EAD for liver transplant recipients. The practical prognostic model may help clinicians to qualify the liver graft accurately, making a more reasonable allocation of organs.

High-flow Nasal Cannula Versus Noninvasive Ventilation for Treatment of Acute Hypoxemic Respiratory Failure in Renal Transplant Recipients.
This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy compared with noninvasive ventilation (NIV) for the treatment of acute hypoxemic respiratory failure in renal transplant recipients. ⋯ In renal transplant recipients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure secondary to severe pneumonia, HFNC achieved outcomes similar to NIV. In addition, HFNC was associated with an increased number of ventilator-free days at day 28 and fewer complications.

Organ shortage has prompted the use of expanded-criteria donors (ECDs). Our objective was to compare long-term outcomes of kidney transplants from ECDs with those from concurrent standard-criteria donors (SCDs). In addition, we evaluated variables associated with graft survival in both groups. ⋯ Transplantation with the use of ECD kidneys provide quite satisfactory patient and graft survival rates despite their poorer long-term outcomes.

Hyperuricemia is a common complication in renal transplant recipients. Recent studies have suggested that hyperuricemia may contribute to the deterioration of graft function. ⋯ There was no difference in graft loss, general mortality, and cardiovascular events between normo-uricemic and hyperuricemic groups. Increased uric acid levels contribute to eGFR decline in patients with renal transplantation. On the other hand, effects of uric acid levels on graft survival, cardiovascular events, and general mortality are still controversial.

The Most Frequently Cited 100 Articles in Liver Transplantation Literature.
We investigated the liver transplantation literature since 1975 and found the most frequently cited 100 articles and assessed the distribution of authors and journals of these articles. ⋯ Bibliometric analysis highlights the key topics and publications that have shaped the understanding and management of liver transplantation. According to our research, this is the first study to investigate articles with most citations in the field of liver transplantation. In our study the article with the most citations was cited 677 times, whereas the 100th article was cited 180 times with a mean citation number for the 100 articles of 252.31 ± 96.75.
