Scabies outbreaks are relatively common worldwide, particularly in communal living settings such as military barracks. The infestation is caused by the parasite Sarcoptes Scabiei and is easily treated once properly diagnosed. Classic symptoms include pruritus around the waist, wrists, and ankles.1 On physical examination, linear burrows visualized in finger web spaces is a typical finding.1 It is not uncommon, however, for scabies to present with a variety of other dermatologic manifestations, which can lead to a delayed or missed diagnosis. ⋯ Providers should be aware of the oftentimes-elusive diagnosis of scabies and the many nonclassic dermatologic manifestations. A thorough skin examination with skin scrapings and examination of the finger web spaces should be considered in those with ambiguous skin rashes who are particularly at risk for scabies infection, such as military recruits, submariners, and other service members living in communal settings. Timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment is crucial to prevent reinfection and spread of scabies throughout these communal living settings.

More U.S. servicewomen than civilian women experience unintended pregnancies, which can impact their health, well-being, and careers. Despite this, federal policy limits abortion access and coverage for military personnel to cases of rape, incest, and life endangerment. This study aimed to document servicewomen's experiences with unintended pregnancy and abortion during deployment, and their knowledge and opinions of military policies related to sexual activity, pregnancy, and abortion. ⋯ Among this convenience sample of current and former servicewomen with an overseas deployment that ended in 2010 or later, 6% became pregnant or discovered that they were pregnant during deployment, and most of these respondents reported being unable to access the pregnancy- and/or abortion-related services they wanted or needed. The majority reported lack of knowledge of military abortion policies and that servicewomen are reprimanded for pregnancy and/or sexual activity in some or all circumstances, with many noting this reprimand as a barrier to contraceptive use for some servicewomen. Predeployment health visits may be one intervention point for disseminating the military's abortion policies; commanding officers should also be well versed in these policies so that they are able to provide effective leadership to junior military members.

Arthropod Assault: A Case Report of Brown Recluse Envenomation in a Training Environment.
Spider bites are a common emergency department complaint, accounting for ~21% of noncanine bites, injuries, and stings. Military service members, more so than most civilian personnel, are exposed to conditions that place them at increased risk for envenomation, stings, and bites. We present the case of an active duty service member working in a relatively austere environment who presented to a level 1 trauma center with a lesion consistent with a bite from a brown recluse spider, or Loxosceles reclusa.

Azoospermia Secondary to a Novel X-Autosomal Reciprocal Translocation: 46,Y, t(X:16)(p22.1:p11.2).
Chromosomal translocations occur in 10 to 15% of men with azoospermia. Thirty distinct X-autosomal balanced reciprocal translocations have been reported in the literature thus far. We present a novel case of azoospermia with a karyotype of 46,Y,t(X:16)(p22.1:p11.2). ⋯ They can have limited but successful reproductive outcomes if spermatozoa can be isolated during testicular biopsy. Given the high risk of producing genetically unbalanced embryos, genetic counseling and preimplantation genetic testing is essential before pursuing assisted reproductive technology. This case is the first X-autosomal balanced reciprocal translocations involving chromosome 16 and highlights the importance of the X chromosome during spermatogenesis.
