Pott's puffy tumor (PPT) describes forehead swelling with associated frontal bone osteomyelitis and a subperiosteal abscess (SPA) requiring a high suspicion index for optimal outcomes. PPT is a life-threatening complication of frontal sinusitis typically found in adolescents. ⋯ Additionally, her course was complicated by a superior sagittal venous thrombosis, a complication commonly associated with PPT. We present an unusual case of orbital SPA and aim to highlight a life-threatening pediatric condition that is often underrecognized.

Left ventricular (LV) apical aneurysm is a rare condition that carries a high risk of fatal cardiac rupture. Wall ruptures are an uncommon catastrophic complication after acute transmural myocardial infarction. Rarely is the rupture only contained by an adherent pericardium or hematoma creating a pseudoaneurysm. ⋯ In this case report, we demonstrate an atypical and rare presentation of an idiopathic LV apical aneurysm in a physically fit, active duty male in the U. S. Navy.

This evaluation examined the role of safety plans, one of a host of clinical suicide prevention interventions available for veterans through the United States Department of Veterans Affairs' national network of health care facilities managed by the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). ⋯ Safety planning is a critical component in suicide prevention within VHA. However, future research is needed to ensure safety plans are accessible, implemented, and useful to veterans when in crisis.

This is a case of a 26-year-old active duty male with a 1-year history of distal anterolateral leg pain and numbness which would persist following activity cessation. He was referred to physical therapy and eventually orthopedic surgery for bilateral anterior exertional compartment syndrome and underwent bilateral anterolateral fasciotomies. One year after surgery, he continued to have pain along the posterior aspect of his lower legs with residual numbness over his left dorsomedial foot. ⋯ This case demonstrates potential benefit with PIT in patients with refractory symptoms following surgery for chronic exertional compartment syndrome. These symptoms may be due to chronic irritation of cutaneous nerves and they may benefit from treatment with PIT. Our case may represent a possible paradigm shift in the conservative treatment of chronic exertional compartment syndrome, especially when refractory to surgical compartment release.
