Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudyIntrathecal baclofen therapy versus conventional medical management for severe poststroke spasticity: results from a multicentre, randomised, controlled, open-label trial (SISTERS).
Intrathecal baclofen (ITB) is a treatment option for patients with severe poststroke spasticity (PSS) who have not reached their therapy goal with other interventions. ⋯ These data support the use of ITB therapy as an alternative to CMM for treatment of generalised PSS in adults.

Absence epilepsy beyond adolescence: an outcome analysis after 45 years of follow-up.
Depending on patient age at onset, absence epilepsy is subdivided into childhood and juvenile forms. Absence seizures can occur several times per day (pyknoleptic course) or less frequently than daily (non-pyknoleptic course). Seizures typically terminate before adulthood, but a quarter of patients need ongoing treatment beyond adolescence. Little is known about their long-term seizure and psychosocial outcome. ⋯ These data indicate that if absence epilepsy persists beyond adolescence, long-term seizure and psychosocial outcome do not differ between childhood and juvenile onset or between pyknoleptic and non-pyknoleptic course of absence epilepsy. However, higher patient age increases the chance of terminal seizure remission.

Randomized Controlled TrialEfficacy of intensive aphasia therapy in patients with chronic stroke: a randomised controlled trial.
Recent evidence has fuelled the debate on the role of massed practice in the rehabilitation of chronic post-stroke aphasia. Here, we further determined the optimal daily dosage and total duration of intensive speech-language therapy. ⋯ Our results suggest no added value from more than 2 hours of daily speech-language therapy within 4 weeks. Instead, these results demonstrate that even a small 2-week increase in treatment duration contributes substantially to recovery from chronic post-stroke aphasia.

Multicenter StudyFunctional neurological disorders in Parkinson disease.
To ascertain demographic and clinical features of Parkinson disease (PD) associated with functional neurological features. ⋯ A subtype of PD with functional neurological features is familial in one-fourth of cases and associated with more psychiatric than motor disability and greater use of diagnostic and healthcare resources than those without functional features. Functional manifestations may be prodromal to PD in one-third of patients.

Guillain-Barré syndrome in southern China: retrospective analysis of hospitalised patients from 14 provinces in the area south of the Huaihe River.
The clinical and epidemiological profiles of Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) in southern China have yet to be fully recognised. We aimed to investigate the subtypes of GBS in southern China, compare the clinical features of demyelinating form with that of axonal form and test whether preceding infections and age have influence on the clinical phenotype, disease course and severity of GBS. ⋯ ChiCTR-RRC-17014152.
