Structural correlates of early and late onset Alzheimer's disease: voxel based morphometric study.
To examine the brain structural correlates of age at onset in patients with Alzheimer's disease. ⋯ Since genetic factors are believed to play a relevant pathogenetic role in EOAD and environmental factors in LOAD, genetic and environmental factors may differentially predispose the neocortical and limbic areas to the development of Alzheimer's neuropathology.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyVariations in care and outcome in the first year after stroke: a Western and Central European perspective.
There are significant variations in the short term patterns of care and outcome after a first stroke in Europe. ⋯ There were significant variations in the pathways of care for stroke across European centres in the mid 1990s, which were associated with variation in outcome, and remain unexplained. Family support is more prevalent in southern Europe and service support more prevalent in the UK.

Unexpected decline in survival from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis/motor neurone disease.
To describe survival of 1226 Scottish adults with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis/motor neurone disease (ALS/MND). ⋯ We found an unexpected decline in survival over the 10 year period, despite controlling for potential confounding variables. We would be cautious about over-interpreting these observations and suggest that further research is required to confirm or refute these findings.
