Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is associated with increased risk of infections. Screening for oral (dental and/or sinus) infection could be proposed before biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) initiation but is not systematically recommended. The aim of our study was to assess the prevalence of oral infection in RA patients requiring bDMARDs. ⋯ In our study, asymptomatic oral infection was confirmed in one third of RA patients.

Pre-Treatment High-Sensitivity Troponin T for the Short-Term Prediction of Cardiac Outcomes in Patients on Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors.
Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are an emerging option for several advanced metastatic cancers, but may have cardiotoxic effects. The prognostic value of high-sensitivity troponin T (hs-TnT) before treatment start has never been investigated. ⋯ In patients on ICIs, baseline hs-TnT predicts a composite cardiovascular endpoint and the progression of cardiac involvement at 3 months, with 14 ng/L as the best cut-off.

Myeloperoxidase and CYBA genetic variants in polycystic ovary syndrome.
Oxidative stress plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Genetic variations in myeloperoxidase (MPO; G-463A) and NADPH oxidase p22phox subunit (CYBA; C242T) cause inter-individual variability in enzyme activities. Here, we investigated the associations between MPO activity and the MPO G-463A and CYBA C242T polymorphisms in Chinese women with PCOS. ⋯ The MPO G-463A variant, but not CYBA C242T variant, is associated with a risk of PCOS in Chinese women.

Characterization of Gut Microbiota in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: Findings from a Lean Population.
Limited available animal and human data suggest an association between dysbiosis of gut microbiota and PCOS. We aimed to determine whether gut microbiota in lean women with PCOS shows any alterations compared to healthy women. ⋯ Our results suggest that gut microbiome of lean PCOS patients with full phenotype shows compositional alterations with similar bacterial richness and diversity compared to controls and that hyperandrogenism is associated with dysbiosis.

Associated factors of co-existent pulmonary tuberculosis and lung cancer: a case-control study.
Although the incidence of co-existent pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) and lung cancer in China is increasing, risk factors related to its development are still poorly understood. We aimed to investigate which clinical factors were associated with the odds of co-existent PTB and lung cancer (PTB-lung cancer) cases in a case-control study. ⋯ Distinct clinical symptoms and CT tests may help with the early diagnosis of PTB-lung cancer cases. PTB patients with fibrous calcification may have a higher risk of lung cancer. Further multicenter prospective studies are required to validate our findings.
