ReviewMesenchymal Stem Cells for Lysosomal Storage and Polyglutamine Disorders: Possible Shared Mechanisms.
Mesenchymal stem cells' (MSC) therapeutic potential has been investigated for the treatment of several neurodegenerative diseases. The fact these cells can mediate a beneficial effect in different neurodegenerative contexts strengthens their competence to target diverse mechanisms. On the other hand, distinct disorders may share similar mechanisms despite having singular neuropathological characteristics. ⋯ Here, we emphasize MSC's effect in improving proteostasis and autophagy cycling turnover, neuronal survival, synaptic activity and axonal transport. LSDs and PolyQs, though rare in their predominance, collectively affect many people and require our utmost dedication and efforts to get successful therapies due to their tremendous impact on patient s' lives and society.

Over the past few years, there has been an undiminished interest in lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] and oxidized phospholipids (OxPLs), mainly carried on this lipoprotein. Elevated Lp(a) has been established as an independent causal risk factor for cardiovascular disease. ⋯ The main questions that remain to be answered, however, is to what extent OxPLs contribute to the atherogenicity of Lp(a), what effect hypolipidaemic medications may have on their levels and the potential clinical benefit of their reduction. This narrative review aimed to summarize currently available data on OxPLs and cardiovascular risk, as well as the effect of established and emerging hypolipidaemic medications on Lp(a)-OxPLs.

Multicenter StudyAn online nomogram of acute respiratory distress syndrome originating from pulmonary disease.
Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a highly heterogeneous disease accompanied by high mortality. Our goal was to investigate the risk factors for 28-day mortality and then establish a predictive online nomogram for ARDS originating from pulmonary disease (ARDSp). ⋯ For ARDSp patients, older males, lower C-reactive protein and albumin levels, and MODS were independent predictors of a poor 28-day prognosis. The online nomogram based on five independent factors could act as a predictive appliance in clinical practice.

Delayed perihematomal hypoperfusion is associated with poor outcome in intracerebral haemorrhage.
The aim of this study was to characterize the temporal evolution and prognostic significance of perihematomal perfusion in acute intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH). ⋯ Perihaemorrhagic hypoperfusion becomes more severe in the days following acute ICH and is independently associated with poorer outcome. Understanding the underlying biological mechanisms responsible for delayed decrease in perihematomal perfusion is a necessary step towards outcome improvement in patients with ICH.
