Microneedle patches provide an alternative to conventional needle-and-syringe immunisation, and potentially offer improved immunogenicity, simplicity, cost-effectiveness, acceptability, and safety. We describe safety, immunogenicity, and acceptability of the first-in-man study on single, dissolvable microneedle patch vaccination against influenza. ⋯ National Institutes of Health.

Foley catheterisation versus oral misoprostol for induction of labour in hypertensive women in India (INFORM): a multicentre, open-label, randomised controlled trial.
Between 62 000 and 77 000 women die annually from pre-eclampsia and eclampsia. Prompt delivery, preferably by the vaginal route, is vital for good maternal and neonatal outcomes. Two low-cost interventions-low-dose oral misoprostol tablets and transcervical Foley catheterisation-are already used in low-resource settings. Great progress has been made in reducing cardiovascular mortality over the past 50 years. Nevertheless, prevalence is rising in some settings and remains higher in men than in women, even with the same level of established risk factors. ⋯ However, calorie restriction has not been as successful as expected in primates and it is increasingly realised that effects on the reproductive axis might also be important. In this paper, the modulation of the reproductive axis using existing agents that have such properties-tachykinin neurokinin 3 receptor antagonists-is proposed as a way of reducing cardiovascular disease and combating a leading cause of global morbidity and mortality.
