ReviewInitiating Pharmacologic Treatment in Tobacco-Dependent Adults.
There is a strong evidence base for the use of existing pharmacotherapies to support tobacco cessation, alone or in combination, ideally with concurrent behavioral interventions. Future pharmacotherapies under development may assist in the most refractory cases. Incorporating current and future therapies into a longitudinal chronic care model for tobacco dependence will help a diverse range of patients achieve independence from nicotine addiction.

This article serves as an overview for selecting appropriate nutrition education resources for patients, families, caregivers, and care providers. Registered Dietitians provide high-quality, evidence-based nutrition care and serve an integral role in multidisciplinary teams. ⋯ Recommendations and considerations for health care practitioners providing individualized nutrition education or for providing disease and language-specific patient education materials are detailed. In addition, a brief review of insurance coverage for nutrition support services, as well as considerations to make when selecting a qualified nutrition provider for patient referrals is specified.

ReviewHow Physicians Can Assess and Address Dietary Behaviors to Reduce Chronic Disease Risk.
With the growing burden of diet-related chronic disease impacting the public's health, nutrition counseling in a primary care setting is essential and can be accomplished through brief and creative approaches. This article reviews an example of a brief dietary assessment and counseling tool and counseling strategies focusing on dietary behavior changes that emphasize impact on health outcomes, ease of behavior change, and affordability. ⋯ Collaborative efforts in nutrition care, particularly through collaboration with registered dietitians, present a valuable opportunity to meet the nutrition care needs of patients. Additionally, this article reviews screening for eating disorders, food insecurity, and dietary supplement use.
