Anterior scleritis following intravitreal injections in a patient with rheumatoid arthritis: A case report.
Surgically induced scleritis is a rare complication following ophthalmologic surgery such as cataract surgery, pterygium excision, strabismus surgery, and retinal detachment repair. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is the connective tissue disease most commonly associated with scleritis. ⋯ Surgically induced scleritis can also be induced by not only major surgical trauma but also by relatively minor trauma such as intravitreal injection (especially in patients who have connective tissue disease such as RA).

Tricho-hepato-enteric syndrome (THES) is a rare disorder caused by mutations in the TTC37 or SKIV2L genes and characterized by chronic diarrhea, liver disease, hair abnormalities, and high mortality in early childhood due to severe infection or liver cirrhosis. ⋯ Physicians must be aware of THES when they encounter a patient with infantile diarrhea, hair abnormalities, immune deficiency, mental retardation, and liver disease. Moreover, flow cytometric detection of SKIV2L protein in PBMCs may facilitate early diagnosis.

Metachronous sternal metastasis of thyroid carcinoma was a rare disease. There was no consensus in the treatment for bone metastasis after the initial thyroid carcinoma surgery. ⋯ Surgical resection may be a sufficient treatment for metachronous sternal metastasis of thyroid carcinoma. Biosynthesis material mesh is preferred to be used.

Endovascular management of renal artery aneurysms induced by neurofibromatosis type 1: A case report.
Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF-1) is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by cafe au lait macules and neurofibromatosis. Renal artery aneurysms are relatively uncommon. Endovascular techniques are effective in treating renal aneurysms but successful cases are rarely reported in NF-1 adults. ⋯ Successful endovascular treatment for NF-1 related renal artery aneurysms in adults is reported for the 1st time with preserved renal function and improved hypertension. Endovascular procedure is considered to be feasible and effective for renal artery aneurysms induced by NF-1.

We studied the efficacy of prophylactic internal iliac artery balloon catheterization for managing severe hemorrhage caused by pernicious placenta previa. This prospective observational study was conducted in Tongji Hospital, Wuhan, China. One hundred sixty-three women past 32-week's gestation with placenta previa-accreta were recruited and managed. ⋯ Mean radiation dose was 29.2 mGy and mean exposure time was 92.2 seconds. Neonatal outcomes and follow-up data did not have significant difference. Prophylactic internal iliac artery balloon catheterization is an effective method for managing severe hemorrhage caused by placenta previa-accreta as it reduced intraoperative blood loss, lessened perioperative hemostatic measures and intraoperative red cell transfusions, and reduce hysterectomies.
