Hepatitis B virus serosurvey and awareness of mother-to-child transmission among pregnant women in Shenyang, China: An observational study.
Preventing hepatitis B virus (HBV) mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) is the key to controlling the prevalence of chronic HBV infection. Adequate awareness of hepatitis B in hepatitis B s antigen (HBsAg) positive pregnant women may be helpful to reduce HBV MTCT. The aim of this study was to explore HBV seroprevalence among pregnant women and investigate the level of hepatitis B awareness among HBsAg positive pregnant women. ⋯ The pregnant women in Shenyang had a low HBsAg prevalence. Antiviral treatment for pregnant women with high viral load can effectively reduce the rate of HBV MTCT. HBV screening and education among HBsAg-positive pregnant women should be strengthened.

Determinants of compassion satisfaction, compassion fatigue and burn out in nursing: A correlative meta-analysis.
Compassionate care is essential for better clinical and patient outcomes, but during healthcare provision it can be compromised by several factors. This study evaluates factors affecting compassion satisfaction, compassion fatigue and burnout in nursing. ⋯ In nursing, a variety of stressful factors and negative affect promote compassion fatigue and burnout whereas positive affect is helpful in achieving compassion satisfaction.

Supraglottic airway device versus a channeled or non-channeled blade-type videolaryngoscope for accidental extubation in the prone position: A randomized crossover manikin study.
It is very rare but challenging to perform emergency airway management for accidental extubation in a patient whose head and neck are fixed in the prone position when urgently turning the patient to the supine position would be unsafe. The authors hypothesized that tracheal intubation with a videolaryngoscope would allow effective airway rescue in this situation compared with a supraglottic airway device and designed a randomized crossover manikin study to test this hypothesis. ⋯ Considering that tracheal intubation can provide a more secure airway and more stable ventilation than the PLMA, re-intubation with a channeled blade-type videolaryngoscope such as the AWS may be a useful method of airway rescue for accidental extubation in patients in the prone position.

Curative efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine xuebijing injections combined with ulinastatin for treating sepsis in the Chinese population: A meta-analysis.
Sepsis is a clinically critical disease. However, it is still controversial whether the combined use of traditional Chinese medicine Xuebijing injections (XBJI) and western medicine can enhance curative efficacy and ensure safety compared with western medicine alone. Thus, this research consisted of a systematic review of the curative efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine XBJI combined with ulinastatin for treating sepsis in the Chinese population. ⋯ On the basis of the common basic therapeutic regimen, the combined use of traditional Chinese medicine XBJI and ulinastatin was compared with the use of ulinastatin alone for treating sepsis in the Chinese population. It was found that the number of adverse events of combination therapy is not significantly increased, and its clinical safety is well within the permitted range. However, considering the limitations of this conclusion due to the low-quality articles included in the present research, it is necessary to conduct high-quality randomized controlled trials.
