Continuous endovenous administration of Endostar (CE) gradually replaced drip intravenous administration of Endostar (DE) in lung squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) treatment presently, but the efficacy and safety of CE and DE which is better in advanced lung SCC are yet unclear. To evaluate the feasibility of CE as an alternative to DE with gemcitabine/cisplatin (GP) chemotherapy. Data were collected from patients admitted with locally advanced or metastatic lung SCC from January 2011 to April 2015, including the patients' characteristics, the therapeutic regimen, the treatment effectiveness, and toxicity. ⋯ Increased progression-free survival (PFS) for patients in CE group was observed across 3 subgroups analyzed. There was a 35.7% reduction in the total dose of Endostar per cycle in the CE group compared with that in the DE group. Thus, in combination with GP chemotherapy, CE could be a suitable alternative to DE in locally advanced or metastatic SCC patients, resulting in less hemoptysis, less treatment time, and lower costs.

X-linked dominant hypophosphatemia rickets (XLH, OMIM 307800) is the most common hereditary hypophosphatemic rickets and characterized by growth retardation, skeletal malformations, dental dysplasia, spontaneous fractures and osteomalacia. PHEX gene was identified for XLH and novel mutations were consistent with loss of function. ⋯ Two novel pathogenic PHEX mutations were found: c.497delG in family 1 and c.388G> T in family 2, both of which caused early termination of translation and produced truncated protein. Serum FGF23 concentration in our XLH patients were obviously higher than the normal and may be related to age to some extent. Early initiation of treatment produces better effect.

Is biopsy enough for papillary thyroid microcarcinoma?: An analysis of the SEER database 2004 to 2013 with propensity score matching.
The treatment of papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC) remains deeply controversial. In this study, we investigated the prognosis of patients who underwent biopsy alone, as compared with other forms of thyroidectomy approaches. We sought to provide reference information for treatment selection in cases of PTMC. ⋯ According to multivariate Cox regression analyses, patients undergoing biopsy had similar cancer-specific survival rates and higher all-cause survival rates in comparison with patients undergoing other surgical approaches. After matching for influential factors using propensity scores, Kaplan-Meier analyses also showed that patients undergoing biopsy had similar cancer-specific survival rates and lower all-cause survival rates in comparison with patients undergoing other surgical approaches. Our results provided helpful implications for the treatment of patients with PTMC.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of 3-dimensional (3D) ultrasonography and 3D color power Doppler ultrasound in the management of cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP). A case-control study enrolled 190 CSP patients who underwent uterine artery embolization (UAE) in combination with dilatation and curettage (D&C). The maximum diameter of gestational sac or CSP mass, uterine scar thickness, and resistance index (RI) were measured by 2D ultrasound. ⋯ The diagnostic efficacy of VI was significantly higher than maximum diameter (P = .020) and RI (P = .011). UAE reduces the number of vessels and the blood flow perfusion obviously; however, it does not reduce lesion size or increases myometrial thickness. Three-dimensional ultrasonography and power Doppler, especially VI, lesion volume may be helpful in predicting excessive bleeding during D&C after UAE.

It is difficult to repair knee deep burn wounds in elderly patients. In this study, we observed the therapeutic effects of descending genicular artery-saphenous artery perforator flaps on knee deep burn wounds in elderly patients. Between December 2013 and February 2018, we repaired knee third-degree burn wounds using descending genicular artery-saphenous artery perforator flaps of 20 × 12 cm to 23 × 13 cm in 56 elderly patients. ⋯ In the 8 patients with completely necrotic patella and patellar ligament as well as open knee joint, the weight-bearing function of knee joint was retained, which met patients' requirements of limb salvage and weight-bearing function. In the other 48 patients with partially necrotic patella and patellar ligament as well as open joint capsule, the postoperative flexion and extension of the knee joint were good. In elderly patients, it is an effective method to repair knee deep burn wounds using the descending genicular artery-saphenous artery perforator flaps.
