To explore that if mid-regional sequence of pro-A-type natriuretic peptide (MR-proANP) may have a good value of diagnosis in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) compared with N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP). ⋯ Results indicated that MR-proANP may be more sensitive and specific than NT-proBNP in diagnosing HFpEF. It may be used as a potential diagnostic biomarker in patients with HFpEF.

A case report of CRB2 mutation identified in a Chinese boy with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis.
Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is a common disease resulting in end-stage renal disease. The incidence of FSGS is increasing in Western countries. The clinical manifestations include proteinuria, hypoproteinemia, oedema, and hypertension. Single-gene heritable mutations are considered to be the source of FSGS pathogenicity according to recent in-depth studies on the pathogenesis. Here, we first reported the case of a Chinese boy whose histology presented with FSGS caused by a compound heterozygous mutation. ⋯ We identified a novel mutation of CRB2 in a Chinese boy with FSGS that had never been described in a previous report. These findings suggested that mutations in recessive disease genes are more frequent among early-onset disease.

Hemangioblastoma is a rare tumor of the central nervous system (CNS). It is usually observed in patients with von-Hippel Lindau (VHL). The peak age for hemangioblastoma is between 20 and 50 years of age with very few cases over 65 or below 18 years of age. ⋯ The unique feature of our case is the presence of multiple drop-metastases like spinal lesions, which has not been reported in the literature to be associated with hemangioblastoma.

Colon cancer and IgG4-related disease with orbital inflammation and bilateral optic perineuritis: A case report.
Immunoglobulin G4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is an inflammatory condition of unknown cause. Cancer might be related to the development of certain IgG4-RD but to date, little literature documents it. ⋯ This case raises the possibility of IgG4-RD being a paraneoplastic syndrome in some patients. Cancer screening should probably be performed in some elderly patients diagnosed with IgG4-RD.

There is evidence that mesh repair for primary umbilical hernias results in fewer recurrences and similar wound complication rates compared to tissue repair. Various devices and surgical approaches are used in umbilical hernia repair. The ULTRAPRO PLUG (UPP) has been adopted for inguinal hernias and femoral hernias with excellent results. ⋯ Early postoperative complications included 1 case of seroma, 2 cases of fat liquefaction, and 1 case of superficial surgical site infection. During follow-up, there were 2 recurrences, 1 case of chronic mesh infection, and 2 patients with chronic postoperative pain. The ULTRAPRO PLUG offers a simple and quick means of repairing smaller than 3-cm umbilical hernias with lower recurrence rates and fewer postoperative complications.
