Hemangiopericytoma (HPC) is a rare pediatric neoplasm with a high risk of bleeding, aggressive growth and high early relapse rates. Surgical excision remains the mainstream treatment, while the functions of chemotherapy and radiotherapy remain controversial. In particular, an infantile giant extracranial HPC located in the forehead has never been reported. ⋯ Multimodality imaging and a collaborative multidisciplinary approach are indispensable for the successful surgical management of infantile HPC, especially for giant tumors and their potential risk of life-threatening bleeding. Gross total resection is the optimal option for infantile HPC, and even without adjuvant therapy, it achieves better outcomes.

Observational Study
Extracorporeal treatment in children with acute severe poisoning.
Acute poisoning in children is a clinical emergency. Prompt and effective treatment is critical for life-threatening poisoning. Extracorporeal treatment (ECTR) is a practical option for enhancing the elimination of poisons. ⋯ The adverse reactions were mostly mild to moderate and were manageable. During the study period, there were 295 patients (87.28%) who were cured, 9 (2.66%) who experienced some improvement, and 34 (10.06%) who died. ECTR modalities were found to be clinically effective approaches to the treatment of poisoning by pesticides, biotoxins, and pharmaceuticals, indicating they are important modalities in toxicology and treatment, and are well tolerated by children.

Diagnostic challenges in synchronous ovarian metastasis from rectal cancer: A case report.
Ovarian metastases from rectal cancer are infrequent; thus it might be hard to diagnose and treat them. Our study introduces a challenging case which highlights our method in addressing such an issue. ⋯ Correct differential diagnosis between primary and metastatic ovarian tumors is paramount in choosing the best treatment which leads to the best possible outcome. In ovarian metastatic tumors, immunohistochemistry could represent an optimal diagnostic tool.

Many infertile patients have used Korean medicines (KMs) as a primary or adjuvant therapeutic method to improve in vitro fertilization success rates. The aim of this multicenter observational study is to investigate the effects of KMs on poor ovarian reserve (POR) in infertile patients. ⋯ The study was approved by Institutional Review Board of Semyung University (SMU-IM-190501). The results will be published in a peer-reviewed journal and will be disseminated electronically and in print.

Previous studies have indicated that muscle RAS oncogene homolog (MRAS) gene played an important role in cardiovascular diseases. However, the effect of MRAS genetic variations on ischemic stroke (IS) is still not clear. The aim of the current study was to investigate the association between the MRAS polymorphism and IS risk in Han populations. ⋯ Compared with carriers of the AA genotype, the risk of carriers of the AG+GG genotype increased, with an OR (95%CI) of 2.337 (1.175-4.647), P = .016. In relation to lipid profile, rs40593, rs751357, rs6782181 were associated with increased total cholesterol (TC) levels. Summarily, this study suggested that MRAS rs40593 may contribute to the increased risk of area of cerebral infarction of IS in Han population. rs40593, rs751357, and rs6782181 were associated with higher serum TC levels.
