To assess the effectiveness and safety of intravenous aminocaproic acid for blood management after total knee and hip arthroplasty. ⋯ Aminocaproic acid results in a significant reduction of total blood loss, postoperative hemoglobin decline and transfusion requirement in patients undergoing arthroplasties. Due to the limited quality of the evidence currently available, the results of our meta-analysis should be treated with caution.

Non-needle acupoint stimulation for prevention of nausea and vomiting after breast surgery: A meta-analysis.
Breast disease has been a global serious health problem, among women. Surgery is the main treatment for the patients suffering from breast disease. Postoperative nausea and vomiting are still disturbing. Acupoint stimulation, an effective treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, has been used to reduce postoperative nausea and vomiting. Recently, non-needle acupoint stimulation becomes a new intervention. Though several clinical trials have been done, there is still no final conclusion on the efficacy. This Meta-Analysis aims at evaluating the efficacy of non-needle acupoint stimulation for prevention of nausea and vomiting after breast surgery. ⋯ Non-needle acupoint stimulation can be used for female patients undergoing breast surgery to reduce postoperative nausea and vomiting. Into consideration, we recommend transcutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation on PC6 from 30 minutes before induction of anesthesia to the end of surgery for application. This non-pharmaceutical approach may be promising to promote the recovery of patients after breast surgery.

The awakening and breathing coordination of daily sedation and ventilator removal trials, delirium monitoring and management, and early mobility and exercise (ABCDE) and assessment, prevent and manage pain, both spontaneous awakening and spontaneous breathing trials, choice of analgesia and sedation, assess, prevent and manage delirium, early mobility and exercise, family engagement (ABCDEF) bundles are part of the science of the liberation of the intensive care unit (ICU). There are not enough studies that have evaluated the effectiveness and safety of the implementation of these bundles. This study will analyze the implementation process, estimate their effectiveness and safety, and identify barriers, facilitators and attitudes that have influenced the implementation process. ⋯ PROSPERO CRD42019121307.

Association of TFPI polymorphisms rs8176592, rs10931292, and rs10153820 with venous thrombosis: A meta-analysis.
Tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI) polymorphisms are known to be involved in venous thrombosis; however, any correlation between the TFPI polymorphisms rs8176592, rs10931292, and rs10153820 and venous thrombosis remains controversial. This meta-analysis aimed to elucidate the relationship between these TFPI polymorphisms and the susceptibility to venous thrombosis. ⋯ Meta-analysis suggested that different TFPI polymorphisms may have different associations with venous thrombosis. TFPI rs8176592 polymorphism may increase the risk of venous thrombosis, especially in Asians and hospital-based patients. The TFPI rs10931292 polymorphism may increase the venous thrombosis risk for both non-Asians and population-based patients. Moreover, rs10931292 and rs10153820 polymorphisms of TFPI may decrease the risk of venous thrombosis for hospital-based patients.

p16 protein is significantly down-regulated in several cancers, which reveals that it may be a potential biomarker for cancers. However, the clinicopathological and prognostic value of p16 protein in nasopharynx cancer patients remains unclear. Therefore, we performed a meta-analysis to assess the relationships of p16 protein expression with the clinicopathological features and prognosis of nasopharynx cancer. ⋯ The meta-analysis revealed that downregulated p16 expression was significantly associated with the risk, lymph node metastasis, TNM-stage, distant metastasis, and T stage of nasopharynx cancer. No significant association between p16 protein expression and prognosis of nasopharynx cancer was found. However, additional high-quality and multicenter studies should be conducted to validate these findings in the future.
