Randomized Controlled Trial
Intrathecal dexmedetomidine can decrease the 95% effective dose of bupivacaine in spinal anesthesia for cesarean section: A prospective, double-blinded, randomized study.
Dexmedetomidine (Dex), as an adjuvant, has been reported to prolong the duration of spinal analgesia when adding to local anesthetic. We hypothesized that Dex could enhance the efficiency of intrathecal bupivacaine for spinal anesthesia in cesarean section. The aim of his study is to test our hypothesis that 5 μg Dex could enhance the efficiency of intrathecal bupivacaine and reduce the dose requirement of spinal bupivacaine for patients undergoing cesarean section. ⋯ Intrathecal 5 μg Dex enhances the efficacy of spinal bupivacaine by 24% in patients undergoing cesarean section with spinal anesthesia. No additional side effect was observed by adding spinal Dex.

Platinum-based chemotherapy is one of the standard treatments for advanced nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Despite on an effective treatment for advanced NSCLC patients, its high toxicity and limited clinical effects have raised big concerns. Astragalus injection (AGI) has been commonly employed as an adjutant chemotherapy drug for NSCLC in China. This review was conducted to evaluate the beneficial of AGI in combination with platinum-based chemotherapy in advanced NSCLC. ⋯ The AGI apparently has attenuation and synergistic efficacy to platinum-based chemotherapy patients. However, considering the limits of articles included in the present researches, the recommendation is likely to be weak. High-quality RCTs are urgently used to generate conclusive results.

Prognostic and clinicopathological value of MUC1 expression in colorectal cancer: A meta-analysis.
Accumulating evidence supports the overexpression of mucin 1 (MUC1) in colorectal cancer (CRC), but the value of elevated MUC1 expression remains controversial. Here, we evaluated the prognostic and clinicopathological value of MUC1 expression in CRC. ⋯ Our findings indicated that high MUC1 expression represents a marker of poor prognosis in CRC. Meanwhile, elevated MUC1 expression was associated with advanced TNM stage, greater depth of invasion, and lymph node metastasis.

To assess the effectiveness and safety of intravenous aminocaproic acid for blood management after total knee and hip arthroplasty. ⋯ Aminocaproic acid results in a significant reduction of total blood loss, postoperative hemoglobin decline and transfusion requirement in patients undergoing arthroplasties. Due to the limited quality of the evidence currently available, the results of our meta-analysis should be treated with caution.

Meta Analysis
The diagnostic value of circulating tumor cells for lung cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) have become a potential diagnostic tumor marker and have the potential for wide clinical applications. However, the diagnostic parameters vary among previous studies. A systematic review of the literature and meta-analysis were conducted to assess the diagnostic value of CTCs for lung cancer. ⋯ The results of this meta-analysis suggest that CTCs are associated with a high diagnostic value for lung cancer. These findings require large-scale prospective studies to verify and evaluate the diagnostic value in the future.
