Exertional rhabdomyolysis in a 21-year-old healthy man resulting from lower extremity training: A case report.
The incidence exercise-induced rhabdomyolysis is increasing in the healthy general population. Rhabdomyolysis can lead to the life-threatening systemic complications of acute kidney injury (AKI), compartment syndrome, and disseminated intravascular coagulopathy. ⋯ Exercise-induced rhabdomyolysis can cause serious complications such as AKI. Delayed diagnosis can be critical, so timely manner should be taken to achieve a favorable prognosis.

To estimate the BRAFV600E mutation frequency in Chinese patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), and the diagnostic value of BRAFV600E mutation status in thyroid nodules with indeterminate TBSRTC categories. A total of 4875 consecutive samples for thyroid ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) and BRAF mutation analysis were collected from patients at Jiangsu Province Hospital on Integration of Chinese and Western Medicine. Among all the cases, 314 underwent thyroidectomy. ⋯ The true BRAF mutation rate of Chinese PTC patients was 91.29%. Chinese patients with PTC have a higher frequency of BRAF mutation. The BRAF mutation testing affords a high diagnostic value in thyroid nodules with indeterminate cytology.

Kashin-Beck disease (KBD) is known for some typical characters like finger joint enlargement, shortened fingers, and dwarfism. However, Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the talus in KBD has rarely been reported in the literature. Here, we reported on a KBD patient presented with partial AVN of the talus in conjunction with ankle and subtalar arthritis. ⋯ Partial AVN of the talus along with ankle and subtalar arthritis in KBD patients has rarely been reported as it is not a common characteristic of KBD in clinical practice. Conservative tibiotalocalcaneal fusion could help preserving much more viable talar body, maintaining most structural integrity of the ankle joint, and achieving a stable and plantigrade foot postoperatively.

Many factors have been attributed to this clinical phenomenon. ⋯ Epithelial keratitis following cataract surgery is a common complication and can be misdiagnosed early in its disease course. Physicians should be alert to the possibility of HSK. Polymerase chain reaction detection is helpful in diagnosing this disease.

Spinal epidural hematoma occurring at a distance from the transforaminal epidural injection site: A case report.
Transforaminal epidural steroid injection (TFESI) is a conservative method to treat back pain due to radiculopathy. However, epidural hematoma can occur after the procedure by various mechanisms, which can cause serious complications. ⋯ Epidural hematoma may occur due to causes other than direct needle injury after TFESI. Therefore, careful observation of the patient is necessary after the procedure.
