Owing to reports of recurrent cardiac events in some catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) patients using β-blockers, safer alternatives are being investigated. Flecainide is an alternative adjunctive anti-arrhythmic agent known to provide incomplete protection to CPVT patients. ⋯ Flecainide is an effective and safe anti-arrhythmic agent, and its use as a monotherapy might be a good alternative for CPVT patients with β-blocker intolerance. Combination therapy was superior to β-blocker monotherapy. More randomized clinical trials are required to explore the long-term efficacy and safety of flecainide in these patients.

Cinobufotalin injection (CFI), a kind of Chinese medicine, has been considered as a promising complementary therapy option for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), but their efficacy and safety remain controversial. This study aimed to systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of CFI and chemotherapy-combined therapy for advanced NSCLC. ⋯ The combination of CFI and chemotherapy is safe, and is more effective in treating NSCLC than chemotherapy alone. Therefore, CFI mediated therapy could be recommended as an adjuvant treatment method for NSCLC.

Acupuncture for the postcholecystectomy syndrome: Protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Postcholecystectomy syndrome (PCS) is a term used to describe the persistence of biliary colic or right upper quadrant abdominal pain with a variety of postoperative gastrointestinal symptoms. Acupuncture and related treatments have shown clinical effects for PCS in many studies. But the systematic reviews and meta-analyses for them are lacking. We aim to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture on the treatment of PCS. ⋯ Since this article does not involve patients' private data, no ethical approval is required. The agreement will be disseminated by peer-reviewed journals or conference reports.

Minimally invasive pancreatoduodenectomy (MIPD) is being increasingly performed as an alternative to open pancreatoduodenectomy (OPD) in selected patients. Our study aimed to present a meta-analysis of the high-quality studies conducted that compared MIPD to OPD performed for pancreatic head and periampullary diseases. ⋯ Our study suggests that MIPD is a safe alternative to OPD, as it is associated with less blood loss and better postoperative recovery in terms of the overall postoperative complications as well as POPF, DGE, and wound infection. Methodologic high-quality comparative studies are required for further evaluation.

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a rare hematological malignancy classified in the non-Hodgkin's lymphoma category. Ibrutinib, a first-in-class Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitor has been approved for use in the treatment of CLL. This drug has shown beneficial effects including a higher overall response rate, sustained remissions, and a tolerable toxicity level. In this meta-analysis, we aimed to compare the adverse drug events which were associated with the use of ibrutinib for the treatment of patients with CLL. ⋯ During the treatment of CLL, ibrutinib was not associated with significantly higher risks of anemia, thrombocytopenia, or neutropenia compared to the control group. However, abdominal manifestations were significantly higher with ibrutinib. Advanced phase trials should further confirm this hypothesis.
