Extrapedicular infiltration anesthesia (EPIA) was reported for percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) and percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) and provided good local anesthetic effects. Because of differences in anatomical morphology at each lumbar level, the puncture method of EPIA is not uniform in each lumbar vertebrae. To accurately insert the anesthetic needle into the extrapedicular region, we researched the puncture method of EPIA at each lumbar level. ⋯ The recommended puncture methods for EPIA at each lumbar level, including distance AD, distance BC, SSA, and TSA, were as follows: in L1, 4 mm, 8 mm, 9° and 8°; in L2, 6 mm, 10 mm, 11° and 10°; in L3, 9 mm, 13 mm, 12° and 12°; in L4, 12 mm, 18 mm, 16° and 18°; and in L5, 20 mm, 26 mm, 24° and 24°. The depth of EPIA was 13 mm in L1-L3 and 11 mm in L4-L5. By confirming the skin puncture point and puncture direction of the anesthetic needle, from an anatomical perspective, EPIA is feasible for lumbar PVP (PKP).

Observational Study
HPV testing on vaginal/cervical nurse-assisted self-samples versus clinician-taken specimens and the HPV prevalence, in Adama Town, Ethiopia.
This study aimed to determine the feasibility of vaginal/cervical nurse-assisted self-sampling (NASS) and the agreement between human papilloma virus (HPV) tests on self-samples versus clinician-taken (CT) specimens. Women participated voluntarily for cervical cancer screening at St. Aklesia Memorial Hospital. ⋯ There was a strong statistical association between HR HPV positivity and visual inspection with acetic acid- positive (P < .001). The NASS for HPV testing could be seen as an alternative option and might be acceptable to Ethiopian women. The overall HR HPV prevalence was comparable with Sub-Saharan countries in the general population.

Primary renal epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EH) is a rare vascular tumor with intermediate biologic behavior and metastatic potential, and it is extremely rare and has only 4 cases in the current literatures. ⋯ Renal EH is a rare low-grade malignant tumor with characteristic histological structure. Locally excision has been considered as the optimal treatment and regular follow-up is necessary. Our present study reviewed the clinical and biological information of previous cases which were diagnosed as renal EH and we supplemented more data for further study.

A rare cutaneous phototoxic rash after vandetanib therapy in a patient with thyroid cancer: A case report.
Vandetanib is effective for treating symptomatic or progressive medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) in patients with unresectable locally advanced or metastatic disease, but its toxicity such as photosensitivity reactions should be considered. It is a rare adverse effect of this drug but might cause severe morbidity and even mortality. ⋯ Close attention should be paid to the adverse effect of vandetanib, phototoxic rash, and patients should be advised on the prevention and treatment measures.

Distal radius fracture involving the lunate facet is a tough issue for surgeons, but currently there is scarcity of data on these injuries. This study aims to evaluate results of volar locking plate (VLP) for treatment of die-punch fractures of the distal radius. Between January 2013 and June 2017, a total of 37 patients with die-punch fractures of the distal radius were admitted and underwent VLP fixation. ⋯ VLP demonstrated its efficacy and safety for treatment of die-punch fractures. Prospective comparative studies with larger sample are required to compare the outcomes among different fixation methods, with expectation of precise and individualized treatment for every patient. Type of study/level of evidence: Therapeutic III.
