Hyperglycemia is associated with poor in-hospital outcome in elderly patients with acute ischemic stroke.
Fasting hyperglycemia is associated with poor neurologic outcome in acute ischemic stroke (AIS), but its relationship with in-hospital outcome in elderly patients remains largely unknown. To assess the association of in-hospital outcome with fasting plasma glucose (FPG) levels at admission in individuals with AIS. This retrospective propensity score-matched case-control study included patients aged over 60 years suffering from AIS and who were admitted to the emergency department from November 2013 to October 2016. ⋯ This study used PSM and strongly suggests that FPG is an independent predictive factor of poor in-hospital outcome in elderly patients with AIS. High initial FPG levels after admission may predict poor in-hospital outcome. Prospective studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) of the breast is an infrequent neoplasm, and the occurrence in males is rare. Therefore, diagnostic and therapeutic challenges are inevitable. ⋯ Compared to female breast ACC, male breast ACC may behave differently biologically and have a different prognosis. Our case will provide more diagnostic and treatment experience to deal with this disease.

High systemic immune-inflammation index predicts poor prognosis in advanced lung adenocarcinoma patients treated with EGFR-TKIs.
EGFR-TKIs have been widely used in the first-line treatment of NSCLC patients harboring EGFR mutations. However, the prognosis indicators are limited. In the present study, the prognostic value of systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) were assessed in EGFR-Mutant lung adenocarcinoma patients treated with first-generation EGFR-TKIs. ⋯ In multivariate analysis, NLR (HR 1.736;95%CI:1.020-2.954; P = .03), PLR (HR 1.823; 95%CI:1.059-3.137; P = .04), and SII (HR2.577; 95%CI:1.677-3.958; P < .001) were independently correlated with PFS. While only SII (HR 2.802; 95%CI:1.659-4.733; P < .001) was independently correlated with OS. The present study demonstrated that SII is an independent prognostic factor for poor survival of advanced EGFR-Mutant lung adenocarcinoma patients treated with first-generation TKIs.

Laparoscopic right donor hepatectomy has been reported sporadically in several experienced centers for selected donors. This report introduced a case of a donor with an independent right posterior segmental portal branching from the main portal vein. ⋯ Laparoscopic right hepatectomy for donors with anomalous portal vein branching and subsequent inflow reconstruction for adult living donor liver transplantation is safe and feasible in highly experienced center.

Moxibusion is a famous traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment, which can be used to treat stable angina pectoris for many years. We will conduct this study to explore the efficacy and safety of moxibustion as an additional therapy and to provide more reliable evidence for clinical practice. ⋯ CRD42018112830.
