Effect of Chinese herbal medicine on primary dysmenorrhea: A protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Primary dysmenorrhea (PD), the most common gynecological diseases, seriously affects women's life and work; however, without more effective treatment. Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) has been widely used for relieving dysmenorrheic pain in patients with PD. To assess the effectiveness and safety of CHM in patients with PD, a systematic review and meta-analysis of current published evidence regarding CHM as treatment for PD would be conducted in this study. ⋯ CRD42019121185.

Weight status in individuals with autism spectrum disorder: A study protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis.
Weight status and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are rising public health concerns. An increasing number of reports indicate that individuals with ASD may have unhealthy weight status, but the evidence is mixed. To understand the weight status in individuals with ASD and provide strategies for prevention and intervention, we describe the protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis aimed at assessing the prevalence of obesity, overweight, and underweight in ASD. ⋯ PROSPERO-National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (CRD42019130790).

Atrial septal defect (ASD) is one of the most common congenital heart diseases, with an average of 1.64 per 1000 newborns with the ASD. Empirical studies suggest that surgery should be performed early in the presence of right atrium and or right ventricular enlargement, even for asymptomatic patients. Many surgical procedures can be used to treat ASD. But which method is the best choice remains unclear. This study aims to compare the efficacy and safety of standard median sternotomy, right minithoracotomy, totally thoracoscopic surgery, percutaneous closure, transcutaneous by echocardiography, and transcutaneous by radiotherapy for ASDs in children using Bayesian network meta-analysis (NMA). ⋯ CRD42019130902.

The purpose of this study was to use meta-analysis techniques to evaluate the efficacy and safety of polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) injections for knee osteoarthritis (OA) treatment. ⋯ The intra-articular use of PDRN was similar in function to HA, and the pain-relief effect was superior to HA for 2 months post-injection. Therefore, it could be a favorable alternative to HA to treat persistent pain associated with knee OA while avoiding side effects.Level of evidence I.

Efficacy and safety of high-dose tigecycline for the treatment of infectious diseases: A meta-analysis.
High-dose (HD) tigecycline regimen is increasingly used in infectious diseases, however its efficacy and safety versus low-dose (LD) is still unclear. ⋯ HD tigecycline regimen reduced mortality meanwhile improved clinical efficacy and should be considered in serious infections caused by multidrug-resistant and extensively drug-resistant (MDR/XDR) bacteria.
