Differences in midazolam premedication effects on recovery after short-duration ambulatory anesthesia with propofol or sevoflurane for gynecologic surgery in young patients: A randomized controlled trial.
Anxiolytic premedication requires careful consideration owing to potential side effects including delayed recovery after ambulatory anesthesia. We aimed to compare the effect of midazolam on recovery profiles postoperatively, depending on whether propofol or sevoflurane was the primary anesthetic. ⋯ In the recovery from short-duration ambulatory gynecologic surgery in young patients, intravenous midazolam premedication showed positive effects on postoperative nausea without affecting the time from anesthetic discontinuation to eye opening with sevoflurane-based anesthesia but prolonged the time from anesthetic discontinuation to eye opening with propofol-based anesthesia. Because this difference between the propofol groups is not clinically significant, the results support midazolam premedication in young women. Further studies assessing larger populations are needed.

Arthroscopic versus open treatment for femoroacetabular impingement: A systematic review and meta-analyses.
Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) is a common cause of hip pain and restricted range of motion in young adults and athletes. This study aims to compare clinical results and complications between patients treated for FAI who underwent either arthroscopic or open treatment. ⋯ AT had comparable effect and lower complications than OT, but had less improvement in alpha angle and internal rotation angle.

Hyperglycemia is closely associated with the occurrence of diabetic complications, especially for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Clinical trials indicated that walking exercise could improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, but it is difficult to draw definitive and reliable conclusions due to the small sample size and possible exaggerated efficacy of various individual clinical trials. Therefore, we will conduct systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the current evidence for the efficacy of walking on glycemic control. ⋯ INPLASY202090046.

Tumor Necrosis Factor-α 308 G/A polymorphism and psoriasis risk: A pooled analysis in different populations.
More and more researches have been carried out on the association between the tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) 308 G/A polymorphism and psoriasis, however, controversial results have emerged in these studies. This meta-analysis was performed to quantitatively clarify the relationship between TNF-α 308 G/A polymorphism and the risk of psoriasis in different populations. Databases of PubMed, Springer Link, Ovid, Chinese Wanfang Data Bases, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure and Chinese Biology Medicine were investigated until June 2019. ⋯ In the subgroup analysis stratified by geographic locations, the TNF-α 308 G/A polymorphism was significantly associated with a reduced risk of psoriasis in Germany (A vs G: OR = 0.67, 95% CI = 0.57-0.78; AA+GA vs GG: OR = 0.62, 95% CI = 0.52-0.75), as well as in China (AA+GA vs GG: OR = 0.71, 95% CI = 0.52-0.98) and Poland (A vs G: OR = 0.61, 95% CI = 0.38-0.97; AA+GA vs GG: OR = 0.59, 95% CI = 0.35-0.99). This study indicated a significantly reduced psoriasis risk associated with the TNF-α 308 G/A polymorphism in Germans, as well as in Chinese and Poles populations compared with other populations. Ethnicity and geographic locations probably play a pivotal role in the genetic association of psoriasis.

Systemic sclerosis and risk of cardiovascular disease: A PRISMA-compliant systemic review and meta-analysis of cohort studies.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an autoimmune disorder leading to extensive fibrosis and microvascular injury. Macrovascular disease is well documented in other autoimmune rheumatic diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis. However, the link is unclear between SSc and macrovascular disease, particularly atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (CVD). This meta-analysis aimed to investigate the association between SSc and CVD. ⋯ This meta-analysis revealed that SSc was associated with an increased risk of CVD. Clinicians who manage patients with SSc should be aware of the increased cardiovascular burden and undertake preventive measures.
