Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Laparoscopic anterior resection of rectum for rectal deeply infiltrating endometriosis: A short-term prospective randomized trial.
Laparoscopic anterior resection of rectum (AR) is one of surgical approaches for deeply infiltrating endometriosis (DIE). Up to date, no clinical trials have clearly analyzed the short-term and long-term complications post-surgically, indications or feasibilities for surgical procedure, or post-operative recovery. The aims of this trial were to evaluate the indications for laparoscopic AR, the short-term and long-term complications post-surgically, post-operative recovery. ⋯ Patients can receive benefit from both medicine and laparoscopic AR. However, laparoscopic AR has obvious advantage of rapid symptom relief. Further studies and clinical data collections are required for indications and feasibility of combined therapy.

Review Case Reports
Systemic treatment of a metastatic carotid body tumor: A case report and literature review.
Carotid body tumors (CBTs) are head and neck paragangliomas (PGLs) with a low incidence of distant metastasis. To date, only a few metastatic cases treated with detailed systemic therapy are reported and effective management is still inconclusive. Herein, we reported a metastatic CBT case with systemic therapy and reviewed the reported systemic treatment. ⋯ Evidence for systemic management of metastatic CBTs is mainly based on studies of PGLs and pheochromocytoma. According to our review on metastatic CBT cases treated with systemic therapy from 1981 to 2018, chemotherapy, especially the CVD regimen, was a common reported management. In SDHB mutated patients, sunitinib and temozolomide could also be considered.

Meta Analysis
Intraoperative testing of colorectal anastomosis and the incidence of anastomotic leak: A meta-analysis.
AL remains one of the most threatening complications in colorectal surgery. Significant efforts are put to understand the pathophysiological mechanisms involved in the development of leakage and to create the strategies to prevent it. We aimed to determine whether intraoperative testing of mechanical integrity and perfusion of colorectal anastomosis could reduce the incidence of AL. ⋯ Intraoperative testing for either integrity or perfusion of anastomoses both reduce the AL rate. Studies looking at the combination of these two testing methods of anastomosis, especially intraoperative endoscopy, and indocyanine green fluorescence angiography may be very promising to further reduction of the AL.

Monokine induced by gamma interferon for detecting pulmonary tuberculosis: A diagnostic meta-analysis.
Pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) is an oldest-known and most formidable disease. The standard microbiology culture is time-wasting. Monokine induced by gamma interferon (MIG) has been reported as a new biomarker to auxiliarily detect PTB. In our study, we used meta-analysis to assess the diagnostic value of MIG for PTB. ⋯ Our results showed that MIG had a good diagnostic value for PTB.
