Percutaneous endoscopic lumbar discectomy (PELD) is a minimally invasive technique for removing nucleus pulposus and achieving neural decompression via a posterolateral approach. PELD is known to have a very low rate of complications during the perioperative period. Although quite rare, seizures can occur in patients undergoing PELD. ⋯ We conclude that total volume of fluid used for irrigation was considered a possible cause of seizure. This case illustrates the fact that irrigation should be performed cautiously in PELD procedure. And anesthesiologists should be familiar with the management strategies of perioperative acute seizures.

We aimed to identify the 100 most cited articles published on peritoneal dialysis (PD) and analyze their characteristics to provide information on the achievements and developments of PD research over the past decades. ⋯ This is the first bibliometric study to identify the most influential papers in PD research. This report describes the major changes and advances in research regarding PD as a guide for writing a citable article.

Bioinformatics analysis of multi-omics data identifying molecular biomarker candidates and epigenetically regulatory targets associated with retinoblastoma.
Retinoblastoma (RB) is the commonest malignant tumor of the infant retina. Besides genetic changes, epigenetic events are also considered to implicate the occurrence of RB. This study aimed to identify significantly altered protein-coding genes, DNA methylation, microRNAs (miRNAs), long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), and their molecular functions and pathways associated with RB, and investigate the epigenetically regulatory mechanism of DNA methylation modification and non-coding RNAs on key genes of RB via bioinformatics method. ⋯ Additionally, the ceRNA network with 222 regulatory associations was constructed to visualize the correlations between lncRNAs-miRNAs-mRNAs. This study presents an integrated bioinformatics analysis of genetic and epigenetic changes that may be associated with the development of RB. Findings may yield many new insights into the molecular biomarker candidates and epigenetically regulatory targets of RB.

Depression has become a growing health issue in the world and is projected to become a leading cause of global burden. However, there is little scientific research on the factors associated with depression in people with disabilities in China. In this cross-sectional study, we aimed to explore the prevalence and related factors of depression among people with disabilities in communities in mainland China. ⋯ However, intelligence disability is a protective factor of depression (OR = 0.69, P < .05). The data demonstrates that the depression of the disabled should arouse the attention of our society. Furthermore, the interventions to disability degree, impairment activities of daily living, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia may help to improve the mental health of the disabled people.

The haemostatic profile in critically ill COVID-19 patients receiving therapeutic anticoagulant therapy: An observational study.
Hypercoagulability and thrombosis remain a challenge in severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections. Our aim is to investigate the hemostatic profile of critically ill COVID-19 patients on therapeutic anticoagulant treatment. Forty one patients were enrolled into the study. ⋯ On the contrary, ETP and EXTEM (clotting time) CT values were similar between patients with severe and mild form of the COVID-19 infection, probably due to anticoagulant treatment given. Critically ill COVID-19 patients showed a hypercoagulable profile despite the therapeutic anticoagulant doses given. Due to the small sample size and the study design, the prognostic role of the hypercoagulability in this clinical setting remains unknown and further research is required in order to be assessed.
