Observational Study
Effects of progressive muscle relaxation training on negative emotions and sleep quality in COVID-19 patients: A clinical observational study.
This study investigates the effect of progressive muscle relaxation training on negative mood and sleep quality in Coronavirus Pneumonia (COVID-19) patients. COVID-19 is an emerging infectious disease, and there is still uncertainty about when the outbreak will be contained and the effectiveness of treatments. Considering that this disease is highly contagious, patients need to be treated in isolation. ⋯ After the intervention, the difference in scores of PSQI, GAD-7, and PHQ-9 in the 2 groups were statistically significant (P < .05). Progressive muscle relaxation training can significantly reduce anxiety and depression and improve sleep quality in COVID-19 patients during isolation treatment. Progressive muscle relaxation training was shown to improve the treatment effect of patients and is worthy of clinical promotion.

To explore the value of diffusion kurtosis imaging in the changes of spinal cord microstructures in patients with early cervical spondylotic myelopathy. Twenty nine patients with cervical myelopathy were selected in this study. All images were acquired on a 3.0 T MR scanner (Skyra, Siemens Medical Systems, Germany). ⋯ In all patients MK was significantly lower in normal appearing spinal cords adjacent to the affected cervical spinal cords than in normal cervical spinal cords (0.862 ± 0.051 vs 0.976 ± 0.0924, P < .0001), but the difference of fractional anisotropy and apparent diffusion coefficient was no significant (P > .05). The affected cervical spinal cords had lower MK (0.716 ± 0.0753), FA and higher apparent diffusion coefficient than normal cervical spinal cords (P < .001). MK values in the cervical spinal cord may reflect microstructural changes of spinal cord damage in cervical myelopathy, and it could potentially provide more information that obtained with conventional diffusion metrics.

Trace elements are essential for the proper functioning of proteins, enzymes, and transcriptional factors. However, toxic metals will compete with essential trace elements, and damage enzymatic activities and various physiological functions. We aimed to investigate the status of serum essential trace elements and toxic metals in Chinese diabetic retinopathy (DR) patients, and to analyze their associations. ⋯ Similarly, the serum Cs level in the DM group was 0.0323 μg/L, which was significantly higher than that in the normal group (0.0167 μg/L, z = 2.692, P = .007). Moreover, the area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve values of Mn (0.753 [95% confidence interval, CI 0.635-0.872, P = .002]), and Cd (0.797 [95% CI 0.643-0.952, P = .003]) were significantly greater than those of Zn and Cs, for DR identification. Our results suggest that deficient essential trace elements and accumulated toxic metals were highly associated with the presence of DR.

S100 family members are frequently deregulated in human malignancies, including ovarian cancer. However, the prognostic roles of each individual S100 family member in ovarian cancer (OC) patients remain elusive. In the present study, we assessed the prognostic roles and molecular function of 20 individual members of the S100 family in OC patients using GEPIA, Kaplan-Meier plotter, SurvExpress, GeneMANIA and Funrich database. ⋯ In stratified analysis, the trends of high expression of individual S100 members were nearly the same in different pathological grade, clinical stage, TP53 mutation status, and treatment. More importantly, S100 family signatures may be useful potential prognostic markers for OC. These findings suggest that S100 family plays a vital role in prognostic value and could potentially be an S100-targeted inhibitors for OC patients.

This study aimed to investigate the expression level of X-linked 4 (BEX4) in patients with gastric cancer (GC) and to investigate the prognostic significance of BEX4. ⋯ BEX4 is expressed at low levels in GC. BEX4 expression independently predicted poor OS for GC. It is a promising independent molecular predictor for the diagnosis and prognosis of GC.
