Digestive diseases have been often reported in COVID-19 patients, but whether COVID-19 patients with existing digestive comorbidities are at an increased risk of serious disease and death remains unclear. This study aims to evaluate the association between digestive diseases and COVID-19 severity and mortality. ⋯ This study will comprehensively evaluate the association between digestive diseases and the severity and mortality of patients with COVID-19. The results of this study will provide high-quality evidence to support clinical practice and guidelines development.

The pandemic of COVID-19 poses a challenge to global healthcare. The mortality rates of severe cases range from 8.1% to 38%, and it is particularly important to identify risk factors that aggravate the disease. ⋯ Hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases may be risk factors for severe COVID-19.

The spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) around the world has put a heavy burden on human society and is also a great challenge facing medical staff. This study aimed to assess the difficulties faced by health care personnel (HCP) in using personal protective equipment (PPE) in clinical practice during the COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan, China. One hundred twenty medical staff from the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University presented to the Wuhan First Hospital to provide medical assistance, from whom 20 HCP volunteered to participate in a focus group discussion attended by infection control nurse leaders. ⋯ Observed difficulties included inappropriate PPE sizes, the design of the PPE and its complexity of use, doubts related to the quality and effectiveness of PPE, potential risks during doffing, space layout between clean and contaminated area, and poor comfort with PPE use. Other factors, such as the support environment, management, processes, preparedness, HCP, and equipment can also have a positive or negative impact on the use of PPE. Future efforts to optimize PPE use should focus on strengthening training for HCP using real items for increasing compliance with standardized protocols, improving PPE design, and performing further research on the risks, benefits, and best practices of PPE use.

Mesonephric-like adenocarcinoma of the ovary: A case report and a review of the literature.
Mesonephric-like adenocarcinoma (MLA) from ovary is a very rare tumor which derives from mesonephric duct remnant of the female genital tract. Only six cases have been reported so far in the English literature. ⋯ MLA is an extremely uncommon malignancy with difficult diagnosis, unclear treatment and poor prognosis. Familiarizing with the clinical features and optimal management of this rare tumor may increase awareness of the disease among clinicians and pathologists, thus avoiding the misdiagnosis and mistreatment.

A nomogram for estimating the probability of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease in a Chinese population: A retrospective cohort study.
Studies have showed that dyslipidemia is closely related to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). However, less attention has been paid to the relationship between early dyslipidemia and long-term risk of NAFLD. Therefore, we aimed to develop a simple-to-use nomogram to predict early dyslipidemia and long-term risk of NAFLD onset. ⋯ The accuracy of the nomogram for predicting 5-year cumulative occurrence of NAFLD was 0.8135 (95% confidence interval: 0.7921-0.8349), and the sensitivity and specificity were 0.8108 and 0.6960, respectively. The combination of age, BMI, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein, and UA translated into a nomogram can reliably estimate the incidence of NAFLD within 5 years. It may serve as a decision support tool to determine whether to intervene at an early stage.
