Subacute thyroiditis (SAT) is a transient and self-limiting inflammatory thyroid disease. There is no clear evidence for specific etiology, but it is generally thought to occur after viral infection. Characteristics of SAT include severe pain of the anterior neck, enlarged firm thyroid, disordered thyroid function, elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP), typical ultrasound findings (hypoechoic areas) and low thyroid uptake of radioactive iodine or technetium-99 m because of the destructive etiology of the hyperthyroidism. Evidences showed Xiaochaihu decoction (XCHD) has a significant effect on improving the symptoms of SAT patients. The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and effectiveness of XCHD for patients with SAT. ⋯ This study will draw a conclusion about whether XCHD is safe and effective in treating SAT on the basis of evidence-based medicine. This conclusion will provide areliable scientific evidence for the alternative treatment for the management of SAT. OSF REGISTRATION NUMBER:: https://osf.io/8hbue.

Low back pain (LBP) is high prevalent and it is the leading cause of years lived with disability in both developed and developing countries. The sacroiliac joint (SIJ) is a common reason that caused LBP. At present, the treatment of chronic LBP attributed to SIJ is mainly conservative treatment and surgical treatment. However, there are still controversies between the 2 treating methods, and there is no recognized standard of treatment or surgical indications. Recent publications indicated that minimally invasive sacroiliac joint arthrodesis was safe and more effective improving pain, disability, and quality of life compared with conservative management in 2 years follow-up, which re-raise the focus of sacroiliac joints fusion. This paper will systematically review the available evidence, comparing the effectiveness of sacroiliac joint fusion and conservative therapy for the treatment of gait retraining for patients suffered from LBP attributed to the sacroiliac joint. ⋯ Our aim is to publish this systematic review and meta-analysis in a peer-reviewed journal. Our findings will provide information comparing the efficacy and safety comparing sacroiliac joint fusion and non-surgical treatment for patients with LBP attributed to the sacroiliac joint. This review will not require ethical approval as there are no issues about participant privacy.

Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) have been associated with poor health outcomes in hemodialysis patients. The cinacalcet has popularized in clinic which has efficacy but more adverse events; the novel oral calcimimetic agents evocalcet has appeared in recent years. However, it is currently unknown whether evocalcet produces more beneficial effects and fewer adverse events in patients with SHPT. The aim of this systematic review is to estimate the safety and efficacy of evocacelt. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/N59RB.

This study uses a method of systematic evaluation to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of heated humidified high-flow nasal cannula (HHHFNC) as an initial ventilation method in the treatment of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS) scientifically. In the field of evidence-based medicine, this study provides a theoretical reference and basis for choosing appropriate initial non-invasive ventilation methods in the treatment of NRDS, thereby providing assistance for clinical treatment. ⋯ September 17, 2020. osf.io/f6at4 (https://osf.io/f6at4).

Patients diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma (ES) usually experience poor outcomes. Accurate prediction of ES patients' prognosis is essential to improve their survival. Given that ES is a relatively rare tumor with a low incidence, we aim at developing a prognostic nomogram of ES patients based on a large sample analysis. ⋯ The internal validation C-indexes of the nomogram for overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) were 0.733 and 0.737, respectively. Similar good results were also achieved in external validation setting. The established nomograms show good performance and allow for better evaluating the prognosis of ES patients and recommending appropriate instructions.
